Fuel filter will not come off!!!
I am changing my fuel filter, and I cannot get the line nut to come off. Its on the side that goes to the fuel tank, its a 19mm on the filter, and a 14mm line nut. I used a 19mm wrench to hold the filter, then used a line wrench (goes about 3/4 around the nut) to turn the nut. It will NOT turn no matter what I try. It ended up starting to round the nut with the line wrench! So I used vice grips, and a cheater bar, and it still will not come off! And I also sprayed it with WD40 in the beginning. What can I do?! Anybody else have this happen to them?

steve, that same thing happened to mine once (mechanic's report) -- they had to cut the line, clean, re-crimp and re-shape it, etc. the nut just wouldn't budge.

I haven't been able to get mine changed for the same reason. Mechanic tells me they'll have to change both the in/out lines if I want to put the new filter on.

Changed mine at 148k, and it was a BITCH to get off. I let it soak with WD40 (yes PB blaster is better, but it was all I had) for about 20 minutes, and put my less than huge arms to work. Probably took me an hour total to change the damn thing.

One thing that helped me get mine off after the nut started to round off was to file the sides of the nut down until the next smaller size line wrench fit nice a snug. I was just about ready to cut mine off when my neighbor got it loose for me.

dude go to pep boys and buy a flare wrench set for $10. I couldnt get my filter nuts to budge at all until I used them. Also, I tried the 'ol tobasco sauce trick as well, the combination worked well.
