Body Won't come off frame???

Hey guys...I'm trying to install my body lift today and ran into a problem...the cam won't come off the frame. It'll come off a little bit but it seems like the current mounts are just stretching and as i jack it higher the suspension just raises...thanks for any help.

Big hammer works for rust issues quite well I've found

Make sure there aren't any connections in the way, and then just keep jacking...it will eventually come off.

I had the same problem. I had to put it down, jack it up, put it down, jack it up and finally the last time I just kept jacking like there was no tomorrow and it finally broke loose...

If it's rust, wouldn't a good soak in PB blaster be good enough to break it loose? I'm sure it'll be dependent on the amount of rust present...

but that could probably easily brake something if his suspension is coming off the ground. and then all of a suddent have the body flying off. i dunno. i would soak everything in pb blaster first, then put the bolts back on and drive around a bit to get the pb blaster to soak in better. i don't have any experience with body lifts tough.

I've soaked everything afew times and I'll hit them again today before school. As far as i can tell theres nothing else holding it down as all the bolts are loose. It looks like it just stretches the factory mounts as it comes up a little bit but the suspension goes up more.

Id say keep soaking, then when you get a chance you might try heating the area around the mounts, and lightly tapping them with a hammer, while the body is lightly jacked up, to sorta impact jar the area to help break it free.

body lift.

Only do one side at a time. This helps to keep the body and bed aligned on the frame.Save you some headaches down the road.

Did u disconnect the steering shaft, the front and the rear mounts? Put the jack near the mount your going to stick the spacer in and see if that helps

the suspension is flexing when lifting the body? are you jacking it from the body or the frame?

You will see the suspension unloading when you first start to lift the body. Why? You are removing the weight of the body from the frame (and suspension), less weight = higher ride height. At some point the suspension should stop rising and then just the body. If you have someone to help, poke around under the edge of the cab looking for things that seem to be stretching/pulling/or otherwise holding the two together. Common things are steering shaft, battery cables, ground straps, etc. Never heard of the body mounts rusting to the body, but I suppose it it possible. It could be that the cab bushings are damaged (rubber torn away from the steel shell it is molded inside) and you can seeing that happening. Look at the bottom side of the 4 main cab mount bushings and look for signs of tearing between the rubber and outer shell.

You might try putting a little upward tension on the mounts then use a long chisel or screwdriver to try and pry the top of the body mount off the bottom of the cab:
