Help!! Trasmission problems e340h
So about two weeks ago I thought I'd be cool and go across a flooded creek...well long story short, bad idea.
My timing belt broke while I was out in the middle of it and pretty much everything got flooded.
I had my friend tow me home and I proceeded to tear into the engine (3.slow).
I replaced the timing belt and set the timing etc.
Flushed motor multiple times with new oil and added new K&N oil filter, also replaced intake gaskets and valve cover gaskets.
So now the motor starts and runs and all is well there and anyway I thought I was done and good to go...
Well I took off down the road and all was good for about 300 feet until the transmission quit doing anything at all...towed home again...
Apon inspection I noticed that my kickdown cable was loose at the transmission, in fact I can grab it about a foot and a half away from the throttle body and move it about 2 inches up or down and the cable kind of just bunches up at the throttle body instead of retracting back inside the tube...
Iv already drained the transmission fluid and am planning on taking the pan off and replacing the filter and pan gasket and putting fresh fluid in it.
Anyway my question is does the kick down cable have anything to do with it not pulling in any gear or do I have bigger problems??

Quit as in It won't do anything in reverse, drive, 2 or 1, it's acting like its in neutral no matter what gear you put it in, also I noticed that the tranny fluid was light brown and seemed to be mixed with a considerable amount of water when I drained it.

Was it making any kind of noise when you were shifting it? It could have sucked in some water autos don't like water very much. The kick down cable isn't the main problem. I would try refilling it and see what it does.

There was no sound at all when shifting, I'm probably going to do the same thing with the tranny that I did with the motor and that is flush it with fresh tranny fluid multiple times. Also I'm fairly certain that the kickdown cable is disconnected inside the tranny, if I take the pan off will I be able to see where it hooks up?

A340 h has the pressure regulator off the cable you speak of. Shift points are all through the ecm. I havnt let the cable slack before but theres a chance the reg is bypassing all the line pressure. Or the water rusted a valve in the trans. See if you can pull the cable tight and lock it, should be some spring pressure against it and try it after you drain and fill everything. Remember 3drains 2 fills, reduction box fills from main trans sump.

I'm gonna drop the pan first and see what's going on in there, also there seems to be no spring pressure on the cable at all.
If I fully open the throttle then let back off the cable bunches up in a U shape and I have to push it back inside the tube

UPDATE: removed pan, cleaned trans filter, reinstalled pan with new gasket and flushed with new fluid throughly, fixed kickdown cable...
So trans pull fine now but there is fluid leaking from what seems to be the little slit on the bottom of the bell housing, I do not know why it would do this...

That's what I thought at first, but it's not, its coming from the front of the trans, around the bell housing area, it looks like its running down from the top of the trans and dripping off of the bottom of the bell housing or it's running out of the little slit on the bell housing under the torque converter...
I have another theory; it might be coming out of the breather tube on the trans cause it looks like the fluid is running down the side of the bell housing from the top of the trans...
Also the trans fluid is already brown again, I might try flushing it a few more times...

Fresh fluid might couse leaks to show up. Could be the converter seal or old oil working its way down after the dunk. Check that its not valve cover runoff.

Update: flushed trans 3 more times with fresh fluid, put in new trans filter and new pan gasket.
So my problem now is the same as before, trans pulls fine in all gears, no weird noises, and everything functions properly EXCEPT for the MASSIVE trans fluid leak.
Whatever is leaking is coming from inside the bell housing, I'm not sure if it's a front pump seal, a front main seal or the torque converter.
It does NOT leak at idle but if I rev the engine to anything over about 2000rpm fluid shoots out of the slit in the bottom of the bell housing and various other empty bolt holes in the bell housing which leads me to belive that the torque converter is cracked or busted and as I rev the motor it slings trans fluid every which way.
Just my thoughts but any way it gos it must be fixed.
Just let me know of any thoughts on this or any ideas or advice.
I DO NOT want to pull the trans but I'm fearing that that's what's going to have to happen.
If I do I'll probably go ahead and do the crossover elimination mod while I have easy access to it.

Pull the guard and get a better look. If its too bad, degreaser and a hose what you can. Then run for a short bit. As much flushing as youve done anything not red is engine oil.

If its red then trannys coming out. But its easier to slip the converter in out of the truck and bolt the flexplate to the converter when its in. If you remove the 2 lower brackets the guard comes off exposing the flexplate bolts. Mark the converter and flexplate. If you havnt yet download the fsm. Helps with all the bolt locations. Lots of work.
Might be worth the risk to try lucas trans fix?

I would have downloaded the fsm but... Ive had somewhat of a hard time finding it.
I don't think the trans will be that hard to remove but it's not exactly on my top list of fun activities...
But if it's gotta happen then so be it.
Worst part is I'll be doing this in a gravel driveway...
Do you know how much the fsm cost like if I was to buy it new from Toyota?

That's what I thought also but I'm losing almost ALL the fluid which is roughly 1-1 1/2 gallons in about 300 feet going down the road at about 20mph. I have no idea if the front pump seal could leak that much or not but I'll be finding out soon enough.
