86DLXrunner's 1986 4runner rebuild/buildup

Hey all, New to the forums here but have been pulling great info from Yall for some time now, recently bought a 1986 4runner, Deluxe package out some hellbillys farmyard, paid 600 for the truck, running but with a bad knock on the bottom end. After pulling the motor and breaking it down I discovered the last person to rebuild this motor FORGOT THE #3 CRANKSHAFT BEARING! just left it out, whatever, extra pieces right? Haha at any rate, after days of cleaning liquid gasket out of every orifice of the poor 22re I got a master rebuild kit from engnbldr, along with his 270 rv cam. A centerforce II clutch, pacesetter headers, Luk flywheel, working on a hand done port and polish of the intake and head myself, all new silicone hoses from LCE along with there spark wire/distributor cap, rotator assembly, next is break in fluids! Here's some pics, I'd love to hear feedback from the community, im sure ill need your help in the near future! Thanks all
_Robert

Thanks alot, I'm finding out this is a deep rabbit hole I'm digging luckily I have an old, totalled 86 Deluxe pickup for parts as well, but all these New headbolts, copious amounts of fluids and the price of a man who can bend 2.5" pipe is vast undertaking it seems every time I think I'm close to putting it all back together, oop there's another 600$ and another..and another... But I love being on this site and reading people's successful projects, makes me look forward to mine

Haha yup, just ordered all new fluids, royal purple all the way 6qts royal purple 75w90, 5 qts royal purple 80w90, and 24qts royal purple break in oil, working on dropping in the new cam, installing oil and water pumps try to get the head back on the block today tomorrow I send my fuel injectors into injectorrx down in Houston for ultrasonic cleaning, float testing and balancing, not bad for 18$ per injector
A little more polishing down in the depths of the efi this morining, there are some terrifically difficult spots to get to

Alright, got some goodies shipped in for the yota today, silicon radiator hoses from lce, royal purp gear oil 80w90 for the front
and rear diffs, 75w90 for the transfer and trans, my case of break in oil came but I was working and couldn't sign for it but I'll pick it up at FedEx tomorrow I'm sure, muffler 2.5 in/out from Thrush, picked it after listening to a lot of youtube vids of diffrent mufflers on a 22re, should be nice with those pacesetter headers

Fyi for anyone picking up a set of pacesetter headers, there nice but will require some port and polishing around the welds, my set had huge pieces of slag in the ports, no big deal just be sure you do it otherwise...why even get the headers?

Yeah your cam should turn by hand, mine did even after cam caps were tourqed. Did you check your cylinder head for warpage?? Or did you check the old cam would spin free after the head was removed?? If it did then i wouldnt think its the head.

Well im at the point of no return, heads married to the block, now I just gotta replace the oring in the distributor and throw her back in the runner, then its tune tune tune and drive drive drive break in time baby! Gonna change the purp at 50, 500, 1500, and 2500 before switching to regular 10w30 royal purple syntheic

Took the head to a machine shop and found it to be slightly warped, the machinist, an obvious Toyota fan as he asked me from 10ft away before ever touching the head "22r or re?", the way he put it was that the warpage was so slight that he would not reccomend investing in a new head, "the 22re will never notice a difference between a new head and this one" so...I'm going with it

vacuum "aux" port, back of the plenum.

Here is a pic from Chefyota, drapes infront of the brake master, over the plug wire and to the tri port thing on the back end.
