off brand less expensive tires

Hello ya'll I am instersted in getting some new tires for my truck and being a family man and all is dictating that I cant buy the name brand stuff anymore lol .. I have a set of swampers and a set of allterrains that are almost worn out and I am interested in replacing them with some type of mud tire but I dont want the usual over priced .swampers ,BFG's ,nitto, procomp type tires im more thinking something from a generic line of tires . like NANKANG or master craft or something along those lines . If you have had any luck with any of the cheaper or maybe import tires please post up and let a fellow yota tech'er know about them . thanks everyone

Mud King XT and Definity Dakota M/T are the first to come to mind.

You could try the Swamper Thornbirds. I bet there are many people on Craigslist getting rid of them for dirt cheap

Wink

Wow I have pretty much been going to the same tire dealer since the late seventies.

I have always bought his house brand tires most often just a private label made by the big companies.

Right now I am using Merit tires .

Which were almost $50.00 cheaper than a BFG tire. and way cheaper than a Goodyear.

Right now I have some Remington Mud Brutes (pretty much a copy of Dunlops) on mine and never had a problem on them... I've heard Mastercraft is OK too.

I ran a set of mud brutes for two years. Thes were soft tires, but had pretty good grip on and off road, especially on rock.

I put 15,000 miles on 31" NANKANG mudstars; they were $150 a tire and handled great on the Hwy. They did ok in the mud.

I see lots of rigs running GT Radial Adventuro's. I see them all the time on CL for like 600 installed at the small tire shops. They're Chinese though.
I believe Firestone still does buy 3 get 1 free as do a few other stores, like Pep Boys sometimes - so technically you could get quality for less. Also maybe look at hankooks or hercules tires as those are some of the cheap tires out there

the GT radials are pretty burly tires. I dont like the look of the tread pattern, but their strong!.

I personally like going expensive on rubber... You get what you pay for. and the big name companies ( BFG, Goodyear, Firestone, Mickey thompson, etc etc ) really take care of you when you have a defect or any form of damage.

Blemished 33x13.50x16 super swamper LTB's are $190 a tire right now at interco, I just picked up a set. They aren't the best tires for the highway though.

I've had Nankang tires before. Not on a trail rig but the tires lasted a long time and handled well. I don't think the off road tiresnwould be far off quality wise. I've been looking at the Mudstars too, and am probably going with them. I'll post how they work out.

Look into Hercules. I've had good luck with that brand.
