Oil pressure sending unit location

92 4wd pickup with 22RE and five speed manual trans. Can anyone tell me where the oil pressure sending unit is on this truck? My oil pressure gauge is not working and would like to fix it. Thanks.

Pass side, under the intake, near the engine mount. Should be a gold/bronze colored canister with one wire running to it.

Could be several problems.

1. Sending unit has failed.
2. Gauge itself has failed
3. You simply have no oil pressure....this would be very bad!

Definately have pressure as evidenced by the oil spray all over the front of the motor. (Planning a front seal replacement next weekend.) I guess I'll start with a new sending unit as well. Thanks for your help.

Does your Sending unit still have the Rubber boot over it? Mine did, and yet, when changing the oil one day, I did the infamous "OOPS, what is that wire hanging up on my arm????" thing, lol. The wire was still TOUCHING the tip of the sending unit contact point, but BARELY, and it would flicker on and off.

Just curious if you can clearly see that the clip is on the end of the sending unit?

I also had an issue with the gauge. Got a JYard SR5 cluster for 20$ and pulled the Oil Pressure Gauge portion out of it, slapped it in mine(to keep the mileage straight, and because everything else in mine worked fine). But, to be honest, from everything I've read, ....these gauges after 24 years(19 with yours?) ARE NOT very accurate. I've been planning on adding a set for Oil press., Vacuum and Fuel Pressure, this summer when cabbage flow allows! lol.

Best wishes, Davis!

oil pressure sending unit on a 91 toyota pickup

I got an oil change today and afterwards noticed my oil pressure gage wasn't moving at all.. it was on L and wasn't even showing a little bit of pressure. Obviously there was good oil pressure as my truck was running fine and there was lots of oil on the stick, non leaking out of it anywhere... I have found the oil pressure sender (I think) and there is no wire attached to it... where the hell is this wire at and do I just plug it into the top? I am a complete retard when it comes to any work on my truck so use simple terms please

The oil pressure gauge sending unit is just below the filter on the passenger side of the motor. The wire for it come from the harness just above the filter. It. Should come down through the intake manifold ( if your harness hasnt been molested). One wire, simply slips onto the end of the sending unit.

YOU GO GIRL! My daughters change their own oil, brakes, shocks last month........ but I do the stuff for em that they don't have time to learn/do themselves, like rebuilds, timing kits, etc. BUT, they would if they did have time! hahaha. I'd tell em, "Hey, that car is yours.... so is the work on it... So better decide if you wanna pay Guido 800$ for parts(30$) and labor(770$).... Or fix it yourself for 30$ and a busted knuckle-skin " They got it quick when I wouldn't just pay when they trashed something, ya know? YEP, GIRLS CAN turn wrenches... and fly Space Shuttles.. and Cook for Presidents..... etc.! lol..
