89 22re put into an 87 4runner
I recently bought a rolled 89 4runner with a 22re. I am putting the engine out of the 89 into my 87 4runner that also has a 22re. The engine swap went well. Now I am doing the wiring. The fuel injectors seem to have different plug ins. Can I just cut and splice the correct ends onto my existing harness?

no, take the injectors out of the 87 and put them on the 89 along with ever other sensor from the 87 motor. IE AFM, temp sensors, Knock sensor if it has one not sure, and everything else that plugs into the wiring harness. Keep your 87 harness in the truck don't hack at it and keep the 87 ECU in there as well.
Not sur eon the TPS and the throttle body, but to be on the safe side swap those from the 87 to the 89 as well.

The amount of work is irrelevant. Its about doing it right the first time. You need to swap all the electronics, wiring, sensors, and such from your motor onto the donor motor. Don't try cutting and splicing and messing with all that. Its super easy to just swap the parts over. The few extra minutes spent now will save you hours of headache.

I am changing the injectors out and got an o ring and seal kit for each one. The kit only came with an o ring and seal for the rail side. Do I need to replace the seal on the other side also?

Just for future reference I made the mistake of changing the injector plugs and not the injectors, and the truck would only run with about half the normal power. This was several years ago and I now know better.
