hello YT world. I drive a 95 4runner with a 4in trail gear sas. i wheel it every weekend and the front springs seem too soft. the reason i say this is I hammer the bumpstops all of the time. I welded on the bumpstop frame extentions without shortening them. can I trim these without bending my springs. what do you guys run with a 4 in sas with a v6. i wanted to get a new front bumper but fear it will be too heavy and hit the stops even more. I used trail gear 4in ifs eliminator. after springs have settled shackle angle is at 30*. thakns guys

Where did you place the front hanger?

What shackles on front?

Bumpstops need to be measured for not just welded on.

Did a 95 with 3.0 (search "webcam" on here) and front hanger was offset 3/8" and frame tubes centered in body mount gussets. Truck has front tube bumper as well and works flawlessly. Used 4" front and 5" rear. Doing the same to my 90 with a 3.4 swap here soon.

well i just wwelded them on should have measured. i just didnt want to risk bending the spring. front hanger is 3/8 to 1/4 forward and the frame tubes are centered in the body mount. its not like the shackles are stretching the spring they are more up and down than angled. thanks for the pointer wabbit about the stops. how muck do you guys typically trim off of these? and second can i trim them till the spring flexes flat or just before? thanks for your help hopefully my next trip my spine will feel better!! oh and the shackles on the front are 5in. i believe its what came in the kit.

that 4runner look nice wabbit!! i checked out your web cam 95. i see your rear shackles are vertical. i followed the online trail gear instructions and my rear shackes on the rear are at 45 degrees at ride height. need to fix just a little lazy to crawl under there and cut them off to move them. could you post a pic of that 4runner flexed on the stop or at ride height at the stop? just trying to get a reference thanks again man

and another thing i just thought of. the front shocks are close to bottoming out at full flex, like an inch. this worries me because i mounted the hoops as high as i could and if i trim the bumpstops i might bottom the shock instead. thinking i might have to run a slightly shorter shock to achieve a decent ride so i can shorted the bumps and not bottom the shock. what do you think ill post pics if i can but i dont have access to a camera right now.

Bump stop tech on Pirate. See what that says before you start trimming. I don't remember what the TG instructions say if anything about how much of a gap you want between bump stop and the extension.

I don't have any flex pics of that 4Runner, not mine but a customer's truck. Rear shackle was 6" and rear hanger moved 6.75" not just 6".

yea i moved my rear hanger 6 and 3/4 it looked fine until i put the weight of the truck on it and then once they broke in they lean way back, they do stuff in the wheel well clean and dont rub so im thinking its the position i put them, simple fix though just need to spend some time with a cut off wheel. and sorry to keep asking do you guys trim them at all, the bumps i mean. ill check out pirate thanks

and i only have 5in. shackles in the rear a six incher with the shackle mounts moved back an inch should do wonders.

i did a sas on my 95 runner, i didnt trim the bumpstop framne extensions i hit them all the time, did you all trim them, could you show a pic of how yours look thanks guys i apreciate it!!

bump any ideas on bump stop extentions? got the shocks figured out when i shorten them can i go flat with the spring or just before, also anyone running air bumps? i would be curious to see some mounted

There easy to set up, if you are using the hard as rock TG bump stops set them up so that the bump stop hits just before the shock bottoms out. I made the same mistake as you when I first did my SAS and was running the 3" SAS kit. I have since changed my set up all round to make it lower and just have soft bump stops on the u bolt plate and a flat contact plate level with the frame.

hi guys i did a 4" trail gear sas on my 4runner. i have a great shackle angle and when i flex it out the spring is flat when it bumps out. the problem i have is i hit the stops all the time. can i use ranch springs in the front to stiffen it up? any ideas would be great, i am considering dropping a lump of cash into air bumps because i dont want to ruin the springs and raise the stops. trail gear spriongs are 220 in pounds i think, anyone make a slightly stiffer spring. i can easily bump out and would like to add a bumper but need a stiffer spring first, would better shocks help i run the bilsteins that came with the kit. here is a picture of my shackle angle.

sorry hard to see the shackles but you get the idea of the angle. what do you guys run up front with a v6 and heavy bumper?

I ran the TG 3" springs, they are almost the same spring rate as the 5" HD's from what I have been told. I also had an ARB bumper on it.

I now run OME springs that are 270lbs/in.
