1990 Toyota Pickup 1UZ Swap with R150f Tranny
Ok so i've finally made up my mind on what engine swap im doing, ive been going back and forth on the 3.4 swap and 1uz swap for 2 months!!!! but i just couldn't get one thing out of my mind.... V8... so ive bought a donor car and starting the swap. my 1uzfe engine is out of a 1995 ls400 with roughly 56,000 miles. ( i know super low miles, must of been a grandma car ) my old 3vze had 214,571 miles on it before it started knocking, i pulled the engine in may and it has been taking up space in my fathers garage ever since. so i guess there is more than one person excited to get this swap started. im gonna try and update every day and i've set a deadline for september 7, 2010.... lets see how i do.

My advice is to keep the doner car until your swap is done. I went back to the doner to nab all sorts of bolts, brackets and fasteners that would have cost a lot of money and time if I had gotten rid of the car.
I just recently finished mine so let me know if you have any questions.

for now i only have one question and concern, and its a big one... i live in Arizona so there is one really big thing that needs to be taken care of... temp control... that means engine and a/c.... i havent seen any posts of how anybody dealt with the a/c.... were you able to keep yours???

thats the game plan, i plan on parting some parts out... seats, trim, glass, wheels etc. but anything even related to the engine i plan on keeping till the very end.

good luck man ..
and yes definetly keep the donor ..
im doing another 1uz swap and gonna keep the a/c
we got everything to fit ok without a body lift or cutting the core support.. keeping the original 88 4runner a/c radiator in place ,will be using the tundra hoses , they go over the engine to the passenger side..
its not a successful swap with a/c yet!! .. like toyminator said the cooling is a big issue ..
i already had to replace a ruined radiator.. (didnt have the fans fuses in place , truck started to overheat real bad , aluminum radiator turned to butter expanded the tubes .. along with a radiator cap that was no good .. even though it was new.) oops my bad..
like toyminator i didnt run ac in my truck just to keep thing simple .
go ahead and let us know if you plan on installing a body lift or not .. these swaps can be very diffrent to each other .. depending on your truck and mods to it..
Good Luck !!!..

PM me what your interested in... i just started to tear into it today and olny got the seats and center console out....
RMA- thanks for the info on the wiring diagrams... my buddy knows the manager at a lexus dealer ship and said he could get me one from lexus..... turns out they threw the one out that i needed
I didnt know that a tundra hose would work so thats good to know.
Im going to attempt this swap without a body lift... my truck had a 2'' on it when i bought it and had it off within 45 minutes of getting home. ( luckily i got it hidden in my garage somewhere thinkin i might sell it one day) i really dont what to put it back on due to the type of 4wheelin i do, im only running 32's and thats all i need to go romping in the desert or go mudding while scouting for elk/deer

Try using Jaxed. It will search ebay and Craigslist and you can set it to a radius around your zip code instead of having to search 5 different craigslists.

subscribing.. i wanna see pictures!! i have a 89 pickup, lifted, with over 250,000 miles on it, and it still runs like i just bought it from the dealership yesterday. But whenever this motor decides to go on me, i'd like to have the v8, cause the 3.0 v6 just doesn't have the power i want to feel under my foot.. I was wondering, since i live in Cali, and my yota is my daily driver, if i did the v8 swap, would i still be able to get it registered? and smogged? sorry for the hijack. lol
