I have a 92 Camry 4 cyl that won't start. It cranks fine but will not fire. I am also getting a strong gas odor as if it is flooding out. When I turn it over it will intermittently fire but nevers fires completely and starts. I've got a few ideas of what it may be but was wondering if anyone run into this before and can steer me in the right direction before I go dropping money on a bunch of things that may not be the problem. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you made sure you're getting spark?
You need three things for ignition.

Fuel
Fire (spark)
Air

I haven't started tearing into it yet so was just wondering where to start. I'm assuming it's not a fuel issue because of the gas odor i'm getting. I plan on checking for spark. Any ideas on the easiest way to check for spark? I'm hoping it's just the distributor or something similarly inexpensive. What's the most obvious and and easiest thing to check first? Thanks
