Pics Of stock solid axle setup

Anyone with pics of their stock 4runners with solid axle front? Is it factory with a shackle reversal? I am wanting to add a solid axle to my 89, but not ready to lift or anything so i want to reproduce the stock setup with factory style shock setup and probably stock front leafs.

I think that if you have to ask where the shackles sit in a solid front truck, you need to do a LOT of research before you start this project.
There have been tons of SAS (solid Axle Swaps) done before.
Start reading the threads, and buy a kit.
Here is the most informative thread you will ever find on Toyotas
Read it a few times

I am trying to decide to either go shackle reversal or shackles in front. Given i think i may be leaning towards the trail ready basic kit for $150. I am not ready to lift it just yet, so i will go for stock setup for now and lift it later on. Do you have pics of the factory shock setup on the rig? And is the 4runner spring under or spring over front and rear from the factory?

You're not getting it!
Shackle reversal on a Toyota 4runner IS shackles up front.
READ! SEARCH! I found that picture on Google, searched for "toyota front axle".
Try an image search of "toyota stock shock"

Sorry, but you have way to many stupid questions to even try to SAS your truck.
Take it to an off-road shop and have them do it.

Don't waste your time reproducing stock steering. It sucks and is miserable. Stay IFS, it is fine. When you are ready, go with high steer.

Here you go, one of the first solid axle swaps documented on the web:
http://web.archive.org/web/200212160...t/projtoy.html

He used stock push pull steering, etc. Have at it.

BTW, this guy ultimately converted to crossover steering:

And lots of pix. of the stock setup on my '85 below:

Dude Relax. I have been working on jeeps. And shackle reversal for it is the shackles are towards the center of the rig. As for me calling shackle reversal i am meaning shackles towards the center of the rig, not towards the front. Pardon me for not knowing the total lingo yet.
I have searched and found the solid axle swap. I am trying to find pics of factory solid axle setups to figure out is it the same as these "kits". I am not sure if from the factory the shackle is behind or in front of the shackle. So if you dont liek the question dont answer. I hope others can help that are a bit more relaxed.

4crawler and Intrepid, thanks for help, i didnt realize the steering was even differnt. I found info on IFS steering but didnt look into it at the time.
