RUST Front Winshield sill
As you can see by the pic I have some rust forming on my front windshield at the top along the sill.
Whats the best way to handle this. So far I have purchased soem touch up paint from toyota. I'm guessing I need to get in there and sand away the rust and then put some touch up paint in there.
Thanks

Thanks. I'm kicking myself for not taking care of this earlier when I firast noticed it 2 years ago. Back then I hit it with my porter cable and polish and the rusty orange went away. I proabbly could of sealed it back then and been done with it. Oh well.
So is this rust converter a brush on or spray on type deal?
Also does the weatherstripping just pull out and then push back it, or is held on with something else.
Thanks

the converter comes in a spray primer, and also in just a rub on converter, i would use the rub on first, then sand it again and hit it with the spray primer/converter, it is made by klean strip i beleive.
as for the weatherstripping i would think you would need to purchase new stripping, and also a new sealant for around the glass..

Seems like a PIA to remove and reinstall the windshield. I might try to get the rust out without removing the windshield and hope for the best.
Again, thanks for your help

I am no body man, I just took a few College body shop courses!
Once is starts above the winshield it is very hard to stop. I had a little "spot" of rust in the same spot in my 86 and 87 4Runner. When I had to get my windshield changed in te 86 the shop took the old one out and gave me my truck back. Inner sill was totally gone.
The only way to really "FIX" the problem is to take the winshield out and cut out the rusted metal and weld in new stuff. As soon as you pop the glass I am sure you will find the problem is 10X worst then you thought.
The quick fix would be sand, prep, paint...and REPEAT in 6 months cause it will likly look the same then!
