Thanks for the input...tranny finally thru a code 62 today. I will change out the #1 shift solenoid and we will see.

Daughter may need new tranny in her 4runner soon. Are V6 and 22re automatics the same? I have heard some jeeps run the same aisin transmission, if so what years/models? What is the latest Toyota year...

I am leaning toward the 7mge...seems to be a few good used ones aound for reasonable $$. Will the 340 auto from the 22re bolt up to the 7m? Someone told me it would...just a few inches longer.

My '92 22RE is going to need re-powering sooner or later. I like to be prepared...i like the idea of a 7MGE but because 4runner is an auto I don't know if it will bolt right up to the tranny. Truck...

Aisin Hubs

Picked up a roof rack and a set of Aisin hubs at the wrecker. T-bars are cranked a bit to match the OME springs in rear. Hubs made a big difference on the highway at 60-65mph. No vibrations at all....

92 and up are different. I just replaced mine from ebay. BTW The cheap trick link does not work for the 92 and up relay board. Schematic is very different.

My 89 4runner 22RE had around 400,000 on it when sold original engine.
Current 92 4runner 22RE has 285,000

I use/have used a ford V/8 filter on all my 22R's and 22RE's had 390,000km on my '82 SR5 when I sold it in 1989..filter is a tight fit on my 92 but it does fit. Adds 1 quart additional oil capacity.
