Hi, i have a 77 hilux with a 4 speed and i"m converting to the 5speed..i have ran into the same problem you did with the 78.. i wasa wondering what cross member you used as the transmission sits a lil further back and if you had to change you gears at all.. thank you

Hey. I have a 78 pickup and want to swap in a w50 from a 79 Corona. I noticed your post saying you swapped in a w50 and that the crossmember for the w50 was further back than the crossmember for the 4 speed. Did the w50 crossmember bolt up to the truck?

Also, can you use the driveshaft that's in the truck?

What about the speedo cable?

Last question, what's the driving like with the 5speed. Someone told me the gearing in the rear end of the truck will prevent you from shifting into 5th under about 75mph...what do you think of the w50 now that it's in?

I'm trying to make sure I remove everything I need from the donor car before doing the swap. It's kind of hard to find info on this swap...
