I got the cluster out of a 94 4Runner and it has oil, temp, rpm, speed, voltage and gas on cluster and my stock cluster only has temp speed and gas. Everything on the 4Runner cluster works except the rpm. I looked it up and my truck was not wired up to have rpm wiring. So I'm trying to figure out how to get rpm working on the 4Runner cluster without adding an aftermarket rpm gauge. Any help or advice to pinpoint me in the direction would help. Thanks

Where you at? I have tried a bit to find a block and not many listed for sale. I am doing my own rebuild. I am not a mechanic by trade but do all my own work to save$$$$.

You answered a question I put out on my 88 4runner about firing with no coil wire. Could it be feeding back thru the ignition switch?

    Good Morning,
I have a question if you don't mind me asking - In this post: https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f2/f.../#post51586876 you mentioned about the brake cable breaking right at the handle of the parking brake lever...

This just happened with my '88 2wd . I stopped by my friendly auto mechanic I know the owner of (not an actual toyota dealer, try not to go there first for some things as I'm pretty financially challenged) and we went to look up a part to replace it, and were unsure about the mechanism on the fire wall in the engine compartment - does it come apart to allow for easy replacement of the cable... (kinda like a bicycle cable or something similar) I haven't torn it apart but from what I could tell, and those guys at the garage all thought its just snapped right at the handle just as yours.
Any advice you could lend would be greatly appreciated; I actually made an account to send this message seeking some sort of help.

Hey wild man, very long time no speak! Well, a mudding trip out shooting was the last enjoyable send off to my old 3.0 motor. I knew I could get some more life out of her till her dying day. Yup, I hydrolocked it in a puddle that was deeper than it looked. Was damn near a lake. Sucked it in and bent a rod sooooo..........the swap truly begins.

    You staying warm up there??

You have 4 Toyotas from the 80's! You are a man worthy of my admiration! I have an 87 4runner myself and once I move to my next base I am hoping to pick up an early 80's pickup.
