Can a PS2 be used on a PC?

I just bought a PS2 today from Walmart, and the salesman said that I would be able to use it on my computer as well as my TV. I gave him the look of "I don't think so, but I am not quite sure". Can it really be used on a PC, or was he just trying to get me to buy it (even though I was going to anyway)?

BTW:

I want to know before I try it because I don't want to ruin either machine just in case something where to happen. I need an upgrade anyway, but I don't want to do it this soon

If you're talking about plugging it into the monitor to play through the screen, I don't think it would be a problem, but I dunno if your monitor has the right hookups or not.

Ah, more money to spend.

No, my monitor doesn't have the right hook ups. I will probably get one of those cards, though.

If your video card has rca inputs, you can. It's just not really worth it. Because the ps2 is set up for television resolutions, it looks like worthless on a computer monitor running through the video card. I tried this with my older radeon with a tv tuner. Just use a tv...

Well, my TV is horrible. I don't use the TV in the family room because it is usually always being used by somebody, and we don't have any others. I may just end up buying a new tv, as they are pretty cheap now-a days anyway. I have a video card with a TV hook up, but that just lets me use a TV as a monitor. Oh well..

Thanks for the help.
