They should update more often. New model lines every year sould be enough to invest in a website since that's where people do the research now.

I like to get up to date info on product lines.
Phoenix Gold has only 2 lines of amps available: the Xenon and the Octane

The website lists a Titanium Elite, but I dont think it has been released yet.

I'm starting to narrow down my choices for a system before I talk myself out of it. Just some ideas here.
I'm going to use one set of components in my front doors and one set in custom kickpanels. No rear door speakers.

A full Macrom system. (Amp, subs, components) Signal processing still up in the air.

Front stage: Macrom Ext 6.0

Front stage: Macrom Ext 6.0 mw

Subs: Macrom ExtW.12

Amps: Macrom M1's
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Brax front stage. Undecided on the rest. It's a little more than I would like to spend, plus I want 2 sets of whatever I get.
Either the Graphic Pro or Graphic 6.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dynaudio front stage. Probably use Xtant amps.
http://www.dynaudiousa.com/products/car/2way.htm
Still undecided on what line I want to use. 7" is no problem to mod the doors.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

I want to use Dynaudio since the home setup I have is just killer.
I would like to stick with one brand as well. Signal processing would be different though.
New lines are probably coming out, and I am almost done with paying the truck off, so I want one last splurge before I call it quits with the mods for a while, so I am looking at maybe the end of summer to make a choice.

I don't want to really go over a set point with this, and Brax will do that. Thats why I said undecided about the rest.
I think the Graphic Pro's can be had for under $1100 last I checked, and the Dynaudios that I am lookig at are $600.

Milbert Tube Amps - http://www.milbert.com/new/index.bdc
(Earl Zausmer used these and won "Best sounding car in the world" of something like that a few years back.)

Butler - http://www.butleraudio.com/

PHASS - http://www.phassusa.com/

Cerwin Vega - http://www.cerwinvega.com/
Stroker Pro

Did CV fall off the wagon? I haven't followed this stuff in a few years, and
I was just looking throught some old AS&S and CA&E mags from the late 90's.

Just for home audio ha-has.

Legacy

Dual 15"s in a center channel
4-15"s in each front channel

I recall this whole system to be over $350,000. I read it somewhere.
The fronts are, as I recall, $120,000 or so.

A few lists of a few higher end companies.
http://autopedia.com/html/AudioMfgs.html

http://www.caraudiovideo.com/liens/m.../marques.shtml

http://www.members.aol.com/_ht_a/pja...ksdrivers.html

http://www.ht-audio.com/audio.htm

I need to decide and start to order parts soon.
I just remembered all that sound deadening stuff I put in and why I did it in the first place.
I tried to get in touch with the Macrom dealer here in the US, but they take super long and have no website from what I can find.
Plus I want to be able to get a decent non-MSRP price on the net, or have a negotiable local deal made.
I really don't want to use Alpine, PG or Focal or the likes. They are a little too "popular" for me.

I now have Morel hybrids in my truck. Go figure.
It was the best the store had in stock, so I went with them.

Ok... byron is definitely correct by saying that the JBL 1200.1D is bomb proof, its a hell of an amp, but let me clarify something and expand on his response...that whole first generation of JBL amplifiers, termed the Powervalve series, were hands down some of the best amps to see the consumer market in recent years. Terribly underrated, and almost unstoppable. Unfortunately that original generation of Black brick style amps has now been replaced with new line called the GTO series which have unfortunately put quality on the back burner to aesthetics... they new ones look great but unfortunately do not put out the power and clarity of the first gens.

And just to add a couple of other brands to the list of extreme high end in the world of Car Audio:

Head Units: Nakamichi (if you can find one of the models that was actually designed/produced in Japan and then imported)

Speakers: Beyma (known around the world for their professional line, they have seen a recent insurgence to the car audio world due to their extremely high sensitivity ratings 110db 1w/1m)

Subwoofers: TREO - the current world record holders, and hands down some the best subs ever made, still hand built here in the USA, also very underrated, and as a sidenote their new line of handbuilt amplifiers are top notch as well putting out massive amounts of power with extreme clarity and stunnng good looks, matching the likes of MMATS... if you havent heard a TREO sub you definitely should, and they can guarantee their subs, (3 year warranty), and they also have a sub for someone in every price range. You will be extremely hard pressed to find another company that produces subs of this magnitude...a fairly young company, only been around since 1999 but they have come a huge way in six years... and are now one the most respected names on the competition circuit (SQ and SPL)... if you wanna know more PM me and I can hook you up with all the information you need and the location of the nearest licensed dealer to you (NO internet sales of TREO equipment- this tends to be a growing trend with the true quality brands on the market...)

Just had a tweeter fail last week and I went to the shop Soundsation in Staten Island (for those who live around there), and I told one of the guys and I thought he went to go get someone else and he came down with a box with tweeters in it. He replaced it no questions asked and didn't even look at the receipt.

Awesome service in my book as I was in the store for less than 5 minutes.

This is gonna be a huge thread

I think just about every one makes pretty reasonable stuff now days. This isnt the 90's where half the stuff on the market was crap. Would be a much shorter thread if you just listed who NOT to buy from?

as long as we are bringing up intresting stuff I think Im going to try a few of these 8"s in my truck.

Sound splinter

Isnt that about the coolest little $140 8" ya ever seen?
18mm Xmax to boot...(yes its a TC sounds driver)
