Smitty/Plate bumper Hybrid

I've got a Smitty double tube roll bar in the bed of my DD and while it makes the truck look better and makes a great lumber/ladder rack, it's less than 4' wide and I can't carry any sheet goods or other large items.

I've decided to pull the trigger on a bumper build i've been toying with for quite some time. I'm going to cut the roll bar up and make front and rear tube bumpers out of it. I was thinking about a winch mount but want it tucked in and undercover/stealth so that's where the plate center section comes in. Realistically, it'll probably never see a winch and not sure about the actual strength of it either but I like that look and I need to section it to make it wider anyway.

I don't like the traditional look of Smittys front bumpers... they stick out too far on the sides and too flat front so I want to tuck it in as tight as i can on the sides and I want a slight "V" to the front to make room for the plate section/winch mount and some angles to follow the fender lines and to tie right back into my skid plate.

For the rear I was thinking more "smittyish" with some plated side protection/step since it is my work truck. I've got some Steel Horse nerfs on my 4 Runner that will finish off the "look" and tie it all together too. Then i've got an idea for a SICK lumber rack to come another day.

I'm just looking for some do's and don'ts, tips, tricks and suggestions for the bracing, mounting brackets, lighting, wiring etc. that goes into one of these things. I want it stout but don't plan on pulling it up a tree by the bumper either.

You could always use the Trail-Gear winch mount as the base for your front bumper.

I checked those out, looks like a great foundation for what I want to do. I'd need to modify that one or fab up my own I guess. It looks simple enough and almost exactly what i'm looking for.
