I'll keep posting updates. This week where headed to Ouray, Colorado to do some more off roading around in the Alpine Loop area. Next week I'll post some more photo's.

It's possible to get dual shocks in there but they will usally hit the upper a-arm at full droop if you use low profile bump stops or your stock rubber is worn out. So what I did was grind off the inside rib of the upper a-arm and then ran a gusset to keep it strong. Next couple of months I plan on putting a long travel kit on that I will make myself, and then I will run a 2.5 Sway-a-Way bypass shock with it.

Thanks but the pics don't show it but that's a custom rack I made with some light tabs and spare tire carrier.

Back from Ouray, Colorado. Got to do some wheelin in God's country and put another 2000+ miles on my 4Runner and 280 of those are off road miles. No problems and I can't wait to go back in September.

Yeah, I think that pic shows how you can fit 35"s with only a 1-1/2" body lift and a little sheet metal trimming.

Do you have any more pics of the total suspension travel that you get out of this setup? Most of the pics you have are of the stuff side. I would like to know how much droop you get compared to the stock setup.

I'll get some more photo's up with the rear suspension at full droop, right at this time I'm in the middle of putting a roll cage in and when I finish I will be doing the trailing arm links and at that time I will get some photos for you. My rear travel went from 8"-9" stock to 12" with the 3-Link and longer shocks.
I'll be in Pizmo beach next weekend (Aug 5 ) and if anyone wants to come see up close your welcome too.

Are you doing a full cage or just the B pillar and the rear?

Full cage through the dash and firewall and back to the rear. My next step is to do the front. I think I will put together a build up thread on my 4Runner since I plan on doing alot more to this thing.

Got The Lower Links Done

I got some free time on Sunday and went ahead and finished up my 3 Link set-up. I built the lower Trailing arm links and got them mounted. Before I jump in I did some reseach and found that it's a good idea to make the new links 1" longer then stock which I already had done to the upper link. The reason you make the links longer is to keep your wheel base close to stock when you have more suspension lift and since your links swing forward with more lift added the wheel base becomes shorter. So I went ahead and did that even though I only have the Downey HD springs that get about 1-1/2" of lift on a good day. I plan on installing two Sway-a-Way adjustable coil-over shocks in the next couple of months which will be set up at 3" of lift. That should be a good match for the front with a Long Travel kit I will be putting on, but that will be another thread.
So first thing was to remove a link and cut it up to see what it's made of. Mine where close to 1-1/4" .125 wall, DOM round tubing (see pic's), so I dicided to upgrade to 1-1/2" .125 wall Chromoly round tube, and also the threaded 7/8" bungs I will be using slip right in.

I chose not to put hiems on both ends of the links. My past experience with a stock Toyota rearend and solid mounted links at all povit points tend to tear up gears more, and I asume it's because there is no "give" in the links so the rearend gears take it. I decided to run with a poly bushing at the frame pivot and a 7/8" heims at the rearend, using the poly bushing should allow for some give. Also I went ahead and put a gusset wrap around the bushing end just to give it a little more beef.

That's it, I'm done

After I got it all mounted up I notice that the longer links gave me about another 1" of wheel travel which brings it to 13" but the only problem is my shocks are mounted at 1:1 so the most I will see is 12" untill I get the new coilovers on.
After test driving I didn't notice any real difference in handling at this time (maybe a little better) but i'll know more when I get some off road miles on it. This will be one of my last postings in this thread now the project is finished. I will be starting another thread on the complete 4Runner build up going back a year ago when I started to present.
