Then I will be sure to update this thread when everything is installed.
Everything will come together in March. We should still have a snow storm that allows for slick roads. I'm anxious to find out how it handles in bad weather.

I'm not down on ARB, I just can't afford $750 for the locker, $250 for the compressor, and $250 for the installation.

only thing ive got against arbs is also the price. that said, i figure 'ya gotta pay to play'. i want a full transparent system, esp since the mrs will be driving the truck as well. i also read many an opinion on auto-vs-selectable...i chose the latter. its alot of benjamins...but as they say...it'll only hurt once.

Because I have a reputation for being a jerk and because I had to make this choice...
I was told, when hunting front lockers, to drive a truck equipped with what I wanted. I drove a Detroit locked truck. I couldn't steer on the trail not to mention any evasive manuever while in 4wd on the road.
I have worked in the industry, I have driven trucks with full hydro, non-reactive valves and tires up to 44"s. What scared me the most was auto locking fronts in 4wd on the road. For practice now, only steer every other time that you want to.

Also got the tracking number on my front gears. They will be here tomorrow as well. I ordered the front and rear gears from seperate companies to keep the total (gears and install kits) under $600. I found "complete kits" but they were $630+ even through connections on YT and Pirate. So, I bought Yukon R&Ps for the rear along with front and rear install kits on SummitRacing.com. Then I bought the Yukon R&P for the front from ringandpinion.biz. Grand total = $601.

I ordered 2 of them on the 6th and haven't gotten any word on when they are going to ship. I emailed them and they said that their current shipment is going to fill backorders and that their next shipment is due @ the 21st. I am early in the order for that next shipment. I really really need to get them by that weekend (Feb 24-25) so I can get my 5.29's installed along with the aussies to make my Moab trip in time.
I kick myself for not ordering those thing sooner

Words to remember.
I too prefer not to afford the front ARB. That's my choice, but along with that decision comes the choice not to lock the front at all.
I think it is ok to skimp in the rear with a lunchbox, autolocker, or, dare I say, spool. But in the front I think a selectable is absolutely necessary.

If you want to turn and you find it binds the steering, you can just shift into 2WD, turn and shift back to 4WD.
The green 99 4Runner in this thread has an e-locker rear and an Aussie locker in the front with stock 4.30's and does fine.

The Red 96, My 4Runner, The White Dana 44 96 and pretty much all the rest of them have ARB's up front. The big gold 2nd Gen of the poster of this thread, Elvota also has an Aussie up front, but an ARB out back.
The only front solution that does seem to be pretty worthless is the Tru-Trac, it goes on when it does not matter and when you need it to go on, it does not.
Also there is one ARB that you can always find a GREAT deal on. The RD90. Think of how many people swap Tacomas, so much easier than a 3rd Gen 4Runner, there are always RD90's for sale on TTORA. Stubb's buddy just got one installed with the diff for 300 bucks. Used RD90's are easy to find as they typically don't stay installed all that long. They tend to get "cut out".
