Just got a truck with chebby 63's in the rear and the trail gear kit. 4" i believe. Anyway, the kit is fairly new and i was wondering if my leaf's were going to break in after a certain amount of use and time. I've flexed it and it just doesn't seem to have the travel you'd think it would.

New leaf springs take a month of daily driving or one day of wheeling to break in.

Flex also has a lot to do with setup/install.

Okay its on my 85 Extra cab SR5. Has Shackles and about a four inch block under the rear 63's. Is that the desired set up for the 63's? And i was also going to take out the overload spring, would that make sense?

i dont have experience with 63's but blocks no matter what application are not good. I dont think you need 8 in of lift to wheel. If its just for looks then dont worry but if you plan to use it take the block off. But does the front have a block? the tg kit to my knowledge is a 4 in lift, chevy 63's are about a 4in lift as well so if you have a block thats just 4in of unneeded height in the back.

Yeah, chevies PLUS a four inch block would not match up with four inch springs up front....that is strange

I have a 4 inch bracket lift up front and ZUK in back, with a pair of chevies waiting to go on....sure hope i don't need blocks too!

Why would you want to use a "lift" spring on a wheeler that necessitates using blocks? Defeats the purpose and the reason chebbies are useless IMO. They create more issues than they remedy.

Get ready for axle wrap.

If you keep those blocks, dont pull the overload. thats just asking for more axle wrap than you already have, Ditch the blocks alltogether, and pull the 3rd from bottom front leafs for a better rig.

Thats actually my plan exactly. I cant get pics up but now that my front is settling, the rear is up by more than four inch's. Its look's pretty goofy. I am planning on ditching the block's and the third. Going to keep the overload for now and run it for a bit. I may take it out later.

No reason to pull the overload as long as youve got a decent set of 63's. it aint hurtin nothin bein there, and decreases axle wrap. Hang on to that leaf you pull in the front. Depending on how much further it settles, you may want it back in later.

I don't plan on doing anything with the front leafs. I like it they way it is now. I just need to get the rear set up better is all...

Pulled the blocks and left the leafs alone. Work's great and looks alot better now. It's actuallly level. I wonder why they even put those silly things in there lol
