stupid throwout bearing

I'm doing my clutch and i just found out i put the thowout bearing in after a tech at a dealer said it could only go in one way. now i've got to take the tranny back off and start all over. When i was putting the throwout bearing on it seamed like it would only fit in one way but now i know that i must have found a way to put it on backwords. Anyone have any tips on how i can do it easier and for anyone that's done the throwout bearing, how on earth did you get it on right. My trucks a 90 yota 4X4 22re engine.

The throwout bearing goes on with the detent spring on the transmission side, not the engine side. If you have a harbor freight near you, pick up a cheap ($60) tranny jack.

squirt greese with your greese gun behind your throwout bearing, get it all packed in there then with your clutch alignment tool put it in the bearing and give her a smack or two with you hammer and it will come right out...thats what i did worked great. good luck

That's not a throwout bearing, thats the pilot bearing.

Well i got the clutch in the right way and I'm driving it now. I have no Idea how i got in backwards. The Toyota dealership i called told me it would only fit in one way so i didn't have to worry about it. I know it's easy to put it in backwards in a jeep or a chevy and i thought it might be a problem in a yota but they said it wouldn't be and i guess i found a way to make it fit. I got the tranny on and the side and top bolts on the started hooking up the clutch line and it wouldn't fit. It doesn't matter now though cuz it's all taken care of but it sucked having to redo the whole thing.
