Question on axle wrap
I've been looking into lifting options for my 04 prerunner and have seen two differing opinions on axle wrap, one being that AALs reduce axle wrap and another that shackles reduce it. AAL seems to make sense, but I don't know about shackles because they don't really stiffen up the leafs, right?
On a side note, I'm thinking about 2.0-2.5in. shackels in back, rancho rear shocks and 3in. cornfed spacers in front. If you would like to add any opinions/experiences on that setup, feel free please . I want to get an even ride height (no "cat-in-heat" posture) and maybe beef up the tires later on.

traction bars also decrease clearance and articulation and have to most likely be welded onto the frame
anyways, aals will reduce axle wrap, but they will also liftt he vehicle a little bit but provide a harsher/more stiff ride when unloaded
shackles just move the axle away from the frame, will provide more articulation, but other than lifting isnt going to help your axle wrap problem any....

Yeah I'm not looking for serious work. I'll be doing this in my parking space since I don't own a garage or welding equipment . It'll make a great weekend project for the new truck. It'll give us a chance to sit back and down a few coronas too
I've got a slight axle wrap problem, so the best lift opton would be to get the one that reduces the problem of course. Some ride stiffness as a result won't bother me, and I'll enjoy the better clearance.
Any thoughts? Post em if you got em. Thanks for the tips

I like the thought and it looks like it'll work great, but:
is above my budget, and I like the idea of a moderate lift too
So traction bar...lift....traction bar...lift.... yeah lift wins . I appreciate the idea, believe me, but with my wife in school it'll have to wait. I guess my original question is morphing over some now: What do you think about the lifting hardware I mentioned? The axle wrap problem is slight and only swayed my purchase in so much as AAL has the added benefit of reducing axle wrap, but the 2.5 to 3in. lift is the main goal.
To go along with my post, is this site wrong then?

They claim shackles help reduce axle wrap...

When I 1st got my 02, I noticed the axle wrap. Now 2 years later, I can't hardly tell/feel it. I guess I got used to it. But hey, if you are looking for an excuse to lift, go for it!
