max tire size for IFS?
i have a 94 runner with 33x12.5 tires on it. im thinking about getting a 2 inch body lift and it would surely let a 35 fit underneath. ive heard people say tho at rock shops not to go bigger than a 33 with IFS. is this true? will a 35 be ok for my front end? its my DD so i really dont want to mess up the front. thanks.

I would stick with some all terrain more street treaded tires. They'll be more quite and ride better.

its my daily driver but i like to wheel it and play around with it. so i dont want it to be just street prone. i want it to still be capable. i just dont want to trash my IFS

if your open in the front 35's will be OK, as long as your easy on the gas and avoid excessive wheel spin, but if your locked expect it to break pretty easy

I know two people who run 35's on IFS open front diff rigs and they have a bad habit of breaking CV's. If you take it easy and be gentle then you can do it, but if you are hard on your truck then I would say stay with 33's.
When a tire loses contact with the ground and starts to spin there is a high chance of breakage when it contacts the ground still spinning. Also when the tires are turned and force is applied you enter into a high breakage zone. There things are made worse by larger tires so I geuss it depends on how you wheel.

stay away if you like the gas pedal! If you're careful you can make it work but be prepared to replace stuff in the future do to things wearing alot faster due to the added stress, get an idler arm brace or even better TCs Idler arm (only if you plan to stay with IFS forever tho) If you have a locker up front its nearly deadly you're CVs will hate you and want to grenade every chance they get

Who keeps propogating the myth that open diffs keep IFS alive?
I run 33's with dual cases and dual lockers. I have been destroying and rebuilding the IFS steering for the last year. The only trip in the last year my truck has not need an alignment of front component replacement was when someone else drove it for the weekend.
I wheel hard trails, but I do not drive hard. Spinning wheels break parts, usually a locker means they are spinning slower than someone with an open diff just flogging.
Take a mild tread, put in an ARB and give it a try with 35's. It is not my CV's that hold me back, it is the reliable steering failure associated with two lockers and a ton of gearing.
