IFS half shafts
Hello,
First time posting here. Hopefully Its not spam.
I came here to learn about long travel IFS. I want to fab my own.
I know the typical thing to do is lengthen the arms 3". But that does not answer my question.
Does anyone know how long the half shafts are on various applications? (27 spline)
T100s?
4 runners?
Porsche?
Supras (27 spline) ?
Any others, I should consider?

It does.
but: Porsche axels are made of Cro Molly
Supra axels support tons of HP.
EDIT: the 8" diff uses a 30 spline and a different flange pattern.

I'd have to go through my notes..... but you might want to evaluate what building your own LT kit accomplishes. I know of a half dozen outfits who all ready offer this, what are you going to do to differently? Why re-invent the wheel? Are you wanting bigger travel numbers, more lift, stronger components, less expensive, etc. Building a "one off" will cost you way more in the long run.
Blazeland offers a DIY weld up kit to build your own UCAs / LCAs. This kit will take out all the geometry guesswork you will be experiencing by building your own LT. I also sell SS Brake lines and Tie Rod Adjusting Sleeves to complete the system. Check out the Blazeland website for more details. Yes, this DIY kit is designed to use the T-100 CVs. The T-100 CVs are generally strong enough for most applications. You can buy them at most auto parts stores and just bolt them in. BTW, lengthening the control arms 3" is not the correct measurement to utilize T-100 CVs.

^ ^ ^ that's the way to go if you want to do it yourself..
How much travel do you expect to pull with that center mount diff kit?
I like the idea of a supra 8" limited slip diff.

Everyone raves about your kit. But it won't fit my application. I wheel a 4x4 toyota van. Why? because it has a camper conversion in the back and i do lots of winter camping. It sees a lot of road trips so I want to retain IFS
So it lacks after market support. But I'm a certified welder. And i'm cheap.
Because the cab is over the front tires, I am limited in cutting fenders.
It is about 2 inches narrower than a 4runner wms to wms.
Building my own kit solves a few issues.
My upper arms do not have servicable ball joints.
4 runner torsion bars are beefier than stock. So I can run less preload. And hopefully get a softer ride.
Right now my stock travel is about 6" bump to bump.
I would love to go CM diff if cheap axels will allow. It looks like half shafts cost at much at the junk yard as o'rilies sells them for. And o'rilies offers a lifetime warranty. Any comments on the quality?

The Center Mount diff configuration will support between 15-16" of travel. Building the suspension system to keep up with the diff configuration is the other issue. Currently I am testing my prototype on the 4 Runner. A few guys who attended the UltimateYota Pismo trip got to see it in action. I am working with a major suspension manufacturer to build the production model, as I won't be doing the manufacturing. Should be ready in a couple of months.

Lengths of axels are compressed.
Toyota Van cv axels: 19.75"
T100 cv axels: 24.625"
4runner cv axels: APPROX 21.625"
Word on the street is Supra axels are a posibility for a cm diff.

I've got this going on in a long term project. I'm thinking hub blanks to keep the Supra larger outers, since I have a trailer queen it's no big deal being locked. I can respline the shafts myself no problem.
