How do you do Dual Transfer Cases on a 1996 manual transmission 4Runner?
Alright so I have been searching and reading through threads about doing dual cases on trucks like mine that have a chain driven, left ouput transfer case. From what I understand I need a adapter from my 5 speed tranny to a top shift gear driven case, then another adapter to my stock chain driven case. Can this be done without moving the gas tank? I would just buy the lefty but I can't afford it, and I like the idea of having a 2Lo from the crawl box.
Marlin sells this....http://www.marlincrawler.com/transfe...-transfer-case
But why do I need their transfer case? I just want the adapters and then I ll buy a used t case on CL for 150 bucks...
This is the next mod I am doing to my truck for two reasons, first because I want to do it before I start collecting stuff for a an axle swap, and because I am planning on running the Rubicon with the AZ classic bronco club in July. I think my clutch would like the lower gearing for it.

Any input is awesome.

I've never heard of gas tank interfereance except on a newer FJC.
The crawl box and adapters adds about 8.5" so measure back and see. Also, you'll probably have to rework your parking brake bracket.
You need a top shift, but if you can't find one marlin has the top shift conversion. BruceTS has a taco box in his 4Runner.. Could get a hold of him or even see what hytenor on ttora has to say.
