Fuel leak on FJ62

So I just bought an '88 FJ62. I had always wanted one, found an affordable one, and got it, but I'm really not super adept at diagnosing and working on cars, so I need some help. It's been leaking some fuel off and on. It seems like it either leaks a few drops or makes a frisbee-sized puddle. Has anybody else had this problem? I got up underneath it to maybe see if I could find the problem, but I'm not entirely sure what to be looking for. I know they recalled the gas tank on them for something, but not sure what. Suggestions are highly welcome and, if you've had this problem, what would you estimate a fix price at? Thanks for your help.

where is the leak coming from?

yes there was a recall on the gas tanks, im not sure if it applies to the 62s

depending on where you are, gas tanks can be cheap used.

check fuel filter first( on pass side inner fender)

theres a sending unit check panel under the carpet in the center of the truck
ti diagnose the problem from under your truck, look at the tank(behind rear axle) for wet spots/leaks. most time when the tank leaks its from on top so you wont be able to see the hole(s)

next check the fuel lines coming from the tank, check for leaks/cracks/rust... there are hard lines(metal) and posibly some soft lines(rubber to check)

used gas tank 50-150$
new 350-450

hard line , way too much $$$
soft line 2-5$ per foot.

cut rusty/cracked hard lines with pipe cutter, replace with soft lines/hose clamps. there are 2 lines(one for fuel return)

if its the tank, remove spare tire+carrier cross member, then there are two straps that hold that on, remove the bolts near rear bumper. unhook fuel lines/ filler hose. there are fuel guage wire on top of the tank that run to a clip inside the driver side quater panel
