Fixed my issue with the light on.
It's been on all summer and I haven't used much fluid so I just emptied the tank.
The "sensor" is a slide type with a center post and a white foamy like dognut around it. When the level goes down the dognut go down the post, triggering the light to come on. I didn't need to replace it I just shook it and reinstalled it. Light went out. Maybe, it really broken now but it's not on.

I noticed my guages have a the washer fluid light, I've never seen it on though. So I figured I would try to run out and see it comes on. Well that was about 25,000 miles ago and I'm still not out. (sigh)

i have a canadian model badlands, it has the low windsheild wiper fluid which comes in handy, also mine came with a whip antenna no tweeters, my seats are different then any other 4runner there bucket seats

Hi Lance,

Please let me know exactly how you got to the sensor... I tried to get to it
this weekend, but I couldn't do it. Sorry, I'm not that good with my hands.
Do you remove the tank from the hood or from under the car??

I did not have to remove anything except the sensor. Slide or just look under the passenger front, and you’ll see the washer fluid tank. The bottom side of the tank will have a hard plastic pump and a rubber sensor, with two wires coming out of it about the size of a quarter. Wiggle and pull hard to get the sensor out of the tank. This will empty the tank on you if there fluid in it. Now you can inspect the slide of the sensor. I just had to clean of the slug and reinstall it. The reinstall part was much hard to get the rubber sensor back into the hole, with out damaging the edges.

I finally got the time to go under the car and pull out the sensor.
I taped the little white donut that slides up and down so that it won't move
and the light went out.

My washer fluid is quite low, and when I press the brakes the light flashes briefly. At first I was wondering what light was flashing as I only saw it in the corner of my eye.
A firm brake action and I noticed it was the washerfluid light.
Also a Canadian model of course.

My washer fluid light has been on since I bought the 4runner. I took out the senser, and the white piece slides freely and the light went on and off. Im thinking that that white doughnut does not float any more. Is there any way of making that thing float again, or does anyone have any idea's of what i could replace it with to make it float?

Loos like Silicone is more dense than water, so no, it won't float.

I'd try making sure the bubble is empty, and looking for any leaks in it. If all else fails, maybe try filling it with something with lots of voids, foam spray insulation maybe?

but why do canadian models have a low washer fluid light? whats the purpose of it. seems sorta.... weird. i mean the truck has 4 guages (i REALLY think they should put an oil pressure and volt guage in the trucks) and then a low washer fluid light?
