Weak rear de-froster

Has anyone else noticed that the rear window defroster on their truck is super weak? Mine can barley take care of fog that happens back there over the corse of a whole drive, while the ones in cars I've driven will power through ice and snow in a few minutes.

Basically I want mine to not suck....

Has anyone ever looked into souping it up? Any ideas where to start?

Didn't timed it. May be its due to different body design and volume of SUV. What other cars are you refering to?

mine sucks too, it's not damaged at all, the tops never been off and by how theres no scratches or even micro scrathes in the back glass i can tell the PO rarely ever rolled the window down. it's just not defrosting it enough. this is my fourth 1st gen and i had '93 second gen, THEY ALL SUCKED

Almost any car I've driven that I've used a defroster on is better than my runner. I can get over the fact that it wont melt snow and ice, but the thing cant even de-fog the rear window.
As a comparison, I drove my GF's 91 accord to work yesterday, and being lazy I didn't brush all the snow off the rear window, figuring its maybe a 3 minute drive. Well When I got there, it had melted all the snow that was left on the rear window!

Mine works fine on fog. It's usually in the garage when it snows so I don't know about snow/ice.

Mine sucks also--even my 72 jag has a better defroster.........We need to figure out what the difference is between those few folks whose defroster works--and those whose defroster doesnt.

And i am even in Texas--our fog and "snow" is weak

Here is a copy of the page from the FSM. Maybe someone knows how this works better than I. Is there a way to remove and replace a resistor anywhere so more electricity flows, which makes it hotter? Pure brainstorm here.

The rear defroster on my 2002 sucks as well. The side mirrors thaw almost immediately after turning the RR defrost on, but it takes at least 4 or 5 cycles (turns off automatically after 15 minutes) of the rear window defroster to do any noticeable damage on the fog, water, ice, etc. I've only had one or two stickers on the inside window since brand new and made sure not to damage the defrost lines on the inside of the window when removing them.
