Take a glimpse...JDM Hilux Surf 185s

spoiler questions
I just picked up a clean 2000 SR5 4runner, and I am swapping most of my parts over from my 97 limited. I always thought the spoiler was more for aesthetics, but now that I have the 2000 (which has no spoiler at all) I realize how important they can be.
My rear window gets dirty literally about 4 times faster than on the limited when driving on icy or rainy roads. I also noticed that the exhaust smell is much more noticeable even without my rear window down.
I'd like to put a JDM version on, if not I'll do the standard thin type. The standard type has some black mounts that are then mounted somehow on the actual tail gate. My concern is having to drill into the gate to mount it. Are they simply glued in place? How involved would adding the JDM spoiler be?It seems like it might be easier than the standard type (at least I hope so). Has anyone ever added a spoiler to a rig that has no provisions for them?
Edit: Just checked and the thin type has 4 screws holding it in place. I was thinking of just using adhesive on it, because there is a large footprint for it to hold on to. I REALLY do not want to drill into the bodywork, and I'd like to avoid getting an entirely new liftgate.

You guys are overreacting. I took mine off and threw it in the trash. They make do difference at all, other then cosmetics (otherwise they would ALL come with them).
Heres a RHD I spotted in Seattle a few days ago:

I guess I'm the only one that thinks those fender flares look hideous, but not quite as bad as that little mirror on the corner. I seriously just want to grab it and pull it off.

I do agree about the mirror though.

yea im wondering about the lift's as well...biggest lift i've seen on a 4runner here in the states (3rd gen that is) was a 6" lift on a silver 4runner (can't remember the guys name) but those lifts look wayy bigger than that lol

Yup. There are a ton(ne) of Hilux Surf diesels up here (2nd gen runner equivalent ones). I think our import laws w.r.t. JDM vehicles are more relaxed.
Still haven't seen any 3rd gen equivalent Surfs. I think there is a 15 year limit or something on how new they can be, so we might start seeing those soon.
