Mark,
Good points...Besides, i'm all for "more power" mods anyway, doesn't take much to convince me!
With more power to the plugs though, does that reduce the plug life?

Just got off the phone with the Wires4Cars. Ordered a set of 8mm black wires for the runner. Talked to a guy named Woody and he answered all of my questions and was very friendly. And for $32 for a set of high quality wires...I'm sold. I'd recommend wires4cars!

The wires on a 96 are straight wires (like you see in that pic) of 3 different lengths. We also have coil packs on the passenger side of the engine, but they're not attached to the plug wires. The wires plug right in - just as though it were a spark plug.

what the hell! i went to that web site and they do not have wire sets for a 99' 3.4L engine.
shopped around the net a bunch and can only find places that will sell the 3 straight wire plug sets. talked to a local street racer shop and they could only come up with MSD ignition sets that are spendy. i don't seek an ignition controller or mod, simply a new 6 wire set.
where can non (OEM) stock ignition 6 wire sets be found? ideas?

Like I've said above, and in other threads, the site's a bit weird to get around on. For example, the front page of the Toyota Trucks section would lead you to believe that the 5VZFE is a 2.7L V6...

Yeah if you call your more than likely going to talk to Thomas Woody. He is who I talked to. He is very friendly and very willing to help solve any problems you may be having. I e-mailed him last week to tell him about this thread, maybe he'll chime in.

on the technical side of all of this you really dont need to be above 8mm if you are bone stock.. now if you have a higher compression.. forced pressure (boost) then you will need to have a stronger spark... coil, distributor, and wires. you can put on 10mm wires but if your already getting a strong hot spark why would that improve it.. the module fires a certain amount of voltage and that does not change with thicker wires.. and normally from 8 to 10mm the difference is just more insulation.

I just figured I would go for the biggest. I mean isn't that what its all about? Bigger tires, bigger lifts... I just ordered what I thought was the beefiest (sp). The difference was only a couple bucks so I could justify it. If it had been something like 20$ for a couple steps bigger I probably wouldn't have bothered.
On a side note: Man would it be nice to have a supercharger on my engine like your avatar.

I read somewhere that when it comes to performance wires, you are best to either get cheaper ones (they all break down anyway) or spend up big on a set that will apparently last almost forever.
Anyone know anything about these leads that don't break down? silicon, titanium....

Has anyone bought these for a '99 - '02 model?
Is there a difference in the ignition wire configuration pre-'99 to '99 and above?
Are the wire lengths different than the stock or are they a nice fit?
These wires seem awfully cheap in price? Are they made with quality wire and insulation material? What about leaks around the boots?
Bigger is not better if it does not stand up. (no pun intended )
