Sanded down, tape off real good, use a good adhesion promoter (bulldog), good quality paint (House of Color) and a good painter (CopperState Creations) shameless plug lol. If you do it yourself donot get paint in the blower or valves.

Yes they are aluminum, i'm also worried about the heat, although they do come powdercoated from TRD.

The paint or color may not be for everyone, however if you would like to paint your S/C, I attempted to show you how we did it with a few pictures.
Like any project it's all in the prep work, especially with auto painting it's everything. Spray in a clean room if possible, diy plastic drape works. Remove all of the old paint as you can wipe with dust free cloth, hang and spray. Wear a filter mask so your around for your family and kids lol. Lessen infiltration of dust and bugs which wreak havoic on paint jobs. Fight the tempation to touch, let it hang in a dry place for 24 hrs.
Hope this helps.....8sm

have you tried aircraft paint remover? comes in a paint thinner style can and is available at pepboys. that would be my next step. Be careful with the stuff though.

the great thing about aircraft remover and mek is that they evaporate and leave no residue. before you put down your first coat of pain, wipe the sc down with some acetone or mek, being careful not to handle the part. the paint will adhere a lot better
oh, and all the chemicals are cheap
