Yotatech is still great.

I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to mechanical stuff like you were back then, too, and I also like to do simple, basic maintenance jobs slowly and well, while documenting it for other novices, which makes it take longer. There's a lot of real tech on a lot of these sites, with a lot of the easy basics missing. I mean it's not inconceivable to think someone might come to a site like this looking for a tutorial on changing their oil...

Even for me, as an example: I had pulled and dissembled an engine, re-installed after a rebuild and hooked everything back up, done a few clutches, replaced a rear diff etc, but still got intimidated when, 5 years later, I went to bleed my brakes, change a brake pad etc. I had never done a lot of basic preventative maintenance.

I think having a place where there are good tutorials and basic maintenance is really important for people just getting into this kind of stuff. For people like me who didn't grow up doing this stuff, nothing is obvious. So I feel like having someone do a writeup who was a complete noob later in life is really valuable for others in that same situation. They'll think to explain things that more experienced people might gloss over, assuming "everyone knows that".

I went ahead and bought a vacuum bleeder kit, and it was well worth the money. I flushed my brakes, clutch and power steering. Definitely paid for itself.
