I have the AVS version which is just stuck on with 3M tape and I like it and it's been on there solid for over almost 5 years now. I am happy with it and it cuts some wind noise down and you can have the sunroof cracked when it's raining while driving. It's a bit taller than OEM but otherwise works just the same. It's a very solid piece and doesn't flex period.

My 98 had the issue of the deflector bouncing at freeway speeds and made a bit of a racket. I found one in a wrecking yard, cost me $5. Was easy to remove, lossen the hold down set screws and came right off, was easy to install on my truck and it has been great. Not a big fan of double stick tape no matter who makes it. Mine has "TOYOTA" embossed in the center edge. You might check you local bone yards, some of the older 3rd gens may have them still on them and most yards don't care anything about "trim" like that. Good luck

My 2002 came with both the sunroof deflector and bug deflector. I broke my OEM bug shield on a chain, but the OEM sunroof deflector has been on since day one. I have only removed it once to clean the crap that had built up over the years that was missed by carwashes, but decided to put it back on since I didn't like the look without it and it did keep a lot of wind out of the cabin, but still let fresh air in. Your best bet would probably be finding one at a junk yard. Like 96 said, you might want to look one for your specific year 4Runner, since I do believe the sunroof design was changed a little bit after 99.

I just decided that I am going to take mine off and try it and see.....If I don't want it and you do, I can let you know. Mine is OEM and it says Toyota in the middle on the top. I would include all hardware.

I removed it along with my factory crossbars and it looks like I gained .5 mpg on avg, but my data set is too small to make a solid conclusion. I don't miss the sunroof protector or the crossbars as both can easily be put back on.
