let off clutch squeal and down shift squeal
i have a buddy that has a 1999 4runner. when he lets out the clutch there a light squeel and the truck takes of normal. when he goes for second gear its a real short quick light squeal. when down shifting and letting out the clutch the truck squeels, but once again short and brief. the longest and most freguent squeels are the take off and the down shift. wondering what you guys think this might be.
truck is supercharged, 7th injected, 2.1 pulley, has stage 3 clutch (dont remember if we changed throwout and pilot) and headers. it is 3inches on 35's. with only 103k miles and is a 4X4

Yup it's definitely the throwout bearing. Not hugely expensive to replace but you usually end up doing the clutch too because you have to drop the transmission.

The clutch disc on my '99 will squeel slightly as you take off from a standstill and slip it a little bit. It's def. not the t/o bearing - it makes no noise at all pressing on the clutch - just when the clutch slips a little under some power. I figure the PO just glazed it a bit perhaps?
