LCE Intake and K&N CAI Question
I have a 98 4Runner 2.7L 5spd. I just ordered some fuel injectors from LCE Performance. I have a down injector and figured that for what these cost compared to a non Toyota reman I may as well go with these. I am now looking at purchasing this EFI kit minus the injectors. I would also like to purchase a K&N Cold Air Intake to go with it. I already have a LCE Long Tube Header, High Flow Cat, and 2.5" JBA Exhaust. I am looking for opinions on this setup and if it is worth the money. Will the K&N Cold Air Intake work better with the exhaust and intake being upgrading? I know this setup will cost a lot of money and I am looking to see what everyone thinks. Worth it or not? Also my engine has 290,000 miles on it and I am sure the intake and throttle body desperately need to be cleaned and I think this would be a good alternative to cleaning. I am slowly building up the truck and do not plan to ever sell it. Once this engine goes I will be rebuilding it so any parts I purchase for it will continue to be used.

You really aren't going to notice a nominal increase in performance with the CAI but you will see a slight increase in response time as well as well as mid - high range torque. I run the LCE Pro-Air intake on my 86' 2.4l along with the ceramic coated long tube header and a full flowmaster 2.5'' exhaust turned down over the rear axle. Compared to stock, yes, it is an improvement but if your looking for a serious increase in power and torque then I would consider re-gearing before throwing money at the 4 banger. My brother-in-law has a 96 tacoma with the 2.7l and that little rig gets great fuel economy and has plenty git up and go to it. I personnaly think the intake and exhaust combo is a great modification and it sounds way meaner but just don't expect seat of the pants performance from it and you will be satisfied.
