Question Idle Mixture screw on '93' 4Runner???

Now I really feel like a "Newbie" backyard mechanic.

I can't find the damn screw! Haynes has a pencil diagram and says to flip off the cap and adjust as necessary. But I can't find no @$#!* cap! :pat:

I need help guys, if you have a pic of the area with a finger pointing to the "cap" where the screw is I'd really appreciate it.

My wife is really on my ass for this one!lol

I thank you all!!!

Here ya go. Fresh from the digicam

I forget which way increases it, but it happens very sudden when you turn the screw.
This is assuming you have the V6. When I had my '90 truck with the 22RE, it was the same setup, just different location.
It should still be in the same place though close to the plenum.

YOU DA MAN!!!

Damn Corey, you sure you don't have some sort of Yota blood running through your veins???

Thanks. to you and your site!

BTW, are those factory plug wires or an upgrade? And what are those wire mesh hoses, does the wire mesh help or is this for looks?

Nice and clean, mind if I have lunch on your engine?!?

All of this wrenching is to make sure I don't need tranny work done.... I'm losing power big time, never had the HG replaced, and I don't have a compression tester to find out. Maybe an inspection from the Yota stdealer is in order!

Thanks Hal
I am glad you like our Yota site here in our little corner of cyberspace.

The wires are factory Toyota. Put 'em on last year sometime.
I was not sure how old the ones where that were on it, so I felt it was wise to change them.
They come with the wire looms attached if I remember, and were a snap to put on.
I went with Toy ones again as when I had my '90 Toyota truck I had put on an aftermarket ignition from Jacobs.
Good ignition system, crappy wires it did come with.

They broke down awfully fast and gave me a high reading on resistance.
I had the dealer back then replace them and the rig ran way better afterwards.

The sleeving on the engine bay I picked up a kit from my local Schuck's Auto parts:

It turned out OK, they just slip over your stock hoses. If I were to do it again, I might do as the Butnut did and go with the blue stuff he put on his hoses. It looks trick.

My engine bay is do for a wash. I'll have to hunt for that stuff that Jason uses.
I use the Foaming Engine Brite stuff that you can get almost anywhere, but I'd like to try that CR2 I think it is called.

I'd run your VIN # by your Toyota dealer and see if you are still qualified for the head gasket campaign.
Mine were done at 116K before I got the rig. They put a whole new short block in for the owner.
