Nope, not true. My FX35 only had the bi-xenon, no halogen whatsoever...

To the OP, nice job. Can you elaborate on the Malibu light shrouds?

Here are the output shots! I finally got them aimed properly and man, I honestly almost pee my pants every time I turn them on. Literally, they turn night into day.

Hey thanks man. Superjoe had used some Malibu solar-powered landscape lights for shrouds and suggested them to me.

They are $20 for a pair at Home Depot. I just used the tops and dremeled them to my liking.

Nice work..

Can you elaborate and/or possibly do a write up on your wiring?

I basically just followed this wiring diagram (only works w/ a switched ground setup):

As for flashing the high beams, you can either run around with your lows on all the time, there is a diagram that shows how to wire in a timer that would keep the HIDs on for up to a minute after flashing the high beams... I just can't find it.

They are few, but some people believe that flashing the high beams on HIDs isn't bad for them, and some cars come from the factory like that (Acura TL).

Ok, here goes... know that you could definitely do this cheaper, but this is what I spent:

Porsche bi-xenon projectors: $110
Hella Gen 3 Ballasts: $175
Philips 85122+ Bulbs: $65
Electrical stuff/wiring: $25
New aftermarket headlights: $180
Shrouds: $20
Misc. stuff from Home Depot: $30

Total: $605

I got a really good deal on the projectors, but I could have gotten cheaper ballasts. I couldn't find the headlights for any cheaper, but you could get some used ones for cheap or if you have a 99+ 4Runner just use your stock lights.

Yeah, $600 is quite a bit of money, but I am 100% happy with the whole thing. It's even better than I imagined it would be. Definitely no regrets. Just steer clear of those "cheap" kits. You'll get more light than halogen, but it's not focused (thus not "usable") and you'll be blinding everyone. That's why they are highly illegal.

$600 isn't bad at all. I've been contemplating doing E46 Bi-Xenon retrofits on my 4Runner and Prelude. I'm looking for OEM headlight housings so each vehicle doesn't have any down time.

What kind of shrouds did you use? Where did you get them? Where did you get the rest of the parts as well?

It definitely is! The Porsche Projectors are known for having a very wide light pattern and man, they are freakin wide! I couldn't get the whole width in the pictures with my zoom all the way out. I was driving down a five lane freeway last night and the whole road was lit. I could see the cutoff on both the sound wall and the center median. It's ridiculous I tell you.

By far the best mod I have done to my Rig.

Look above for the shrouds.

Really I found that the best place to get all the HID stuff is from HIDPlanet.com, just look in the For sale forum or post what you need in the WTB section.

All of the electrical stuff I got from PartsExpress.com

The cheapest new headlights I could find were at an Ebay store called Auto and Art.

thanks for the breakdown,
I'v been over to the hidplanet forum a couple times, lots of good info there, I'll have to start getting parts together, the good think about the older truck is you can get cheapy ebay light for retrofit for only $20-$30,

I would love to do something crazy like the infinity Q45 projectors, like this guy did in a tundra:

http://hidplanet.com/forums/viewtopi...ght=q45+tundra

Probably a ton of work and problems with them fitting, but they would look nice

Wouldn't be practical on a 4Runner due to the low beam only design...

The projector just fit inside this housing. I believe the customer has special lights on the front of his car for highs so these are low beam only. While they dont produce the best performance, these Q45's really do look unique since they are one of a kind.

yeah i've thought about that, but I rarely ever use my high beams, and if i ever decide that if i want highbeams, I'll get some of the hella 90mm modules or the 120mm ones and mount them in the grill or something

Here you go man! The requested wall shots:

Just taking a wild guess... these were about 30-40 feet from the wall. Maybe more, I didn't measure.
