Hi guys,
Gonna jump in the discussion here! I just got dynomax and monza resonating tip installed on my 97 4runner this weekend. I have noticed some difference in the way the 4runner handles now. Before when i gased it from a deadstop it would punch really hard right out. This is attributed to the helix power tower that i have on i believe. But now with the muffler on it doesnt do that any more....making the car easier to control. The 4runner now also revs up to higher rpm alot easier and faster with the same foot pressure as b4. And I can also put more pressure on the gas pedal now on the freeway to maintain a steady 75mph. After install the helix tower i had to backoff my foot to a very uncomfortable position in order to maintain cruising highway speed. But now with the muffler I can put more pressure on the pedal with my foot such that it's in a more natural position. So does this mean that I have lost some torque and gained some HP????

Mog,
I must echo your experience for other 4runner owners out there. I put a Dynomax on my 99 SR5 2WD because I heard of the performance gains on this board and through others.
I don't know if my truck gained more HP but, I have noticed that my truck "feels" slower off the start with the Dynomax as compared to the stock muffler. Yes, it does go to higher RPM before shifting and is more responsive when already at high speeds. For example, travelling on the freeway at 75-80MPH, I can "punch it" and it picks up faster for passing, etc.
However, if someone is looking for that "seat of the pants feel" off the line, I would recommend against getting a performance exhaust system.

P.S. I also have the deckplate mod.
