Cheap fender flare

One for the guys who like to save a buck...
I was doing a job at a place where they re-build Cement trucks, and noticed one of the trucks came in with no rubber on the fenders, but had bolts for it. I asked the boss what they did for them, He said they order from that paticular truck maker the flares that go on it, or they just pull some off a roll of a roll of it they have. It was 4" wide. I asked if they had any smaller, but not on hand. He told me to try a Cat dealer in town. This is not the HEavy eq. place, but more the trucks and Semi place mind you. I went and they had some 4" wide also. Not muche help again, especially at $12.00 a foot, Min 10 feet. I went down the road to Sterling, or ford if ya will. The carried some that covers about 2" wide. It is a tough rubber, but it bends with no effort. I used 5/16 sheet metal screws to put them on, about 3 inches apart. When I get a chance I will take pics. The stuff I got was $5.00 a foot, and used about 18 feet on my runner. I did get two different sizes, the smaller in the front and larger in the rear. More of a bargin type thing, "$50.00 for all of it" But he was willing to order more for me If I wanted.
So figure bushwackers for $300 Give or take, or make your own for $100. If I was over concerned with looks, and wasn't really trying to have a ORV, just something that looks like it, Ill spend the extra. But for something that gets banged up and used, Its a no brainer

I like that!

Do you have any shots of the profile of the rubber used? (Like not on the truck?) Will that stuff hold it's shape, or will it eventually be floppping in the breeze? I've seen other applications with other (I think thinner) material that never looks too good.

Yours looks great!!

I've been searching for a flare I can use after doing some fender trimming. I think this is it!!

I will stop by the place again and see if they have anymore in stock, or when they are ordering, or who they order from. They literally pulled it out of an old cardboard box. There was no marking on who it is made by, or where it comes from.
As far as its durability goes, It is made to put on cement, and dump trucks, so I am sure it will hold up a long time. I will try to find the srap piece I had left over and get a pic, but the inside where you attach it to the truck is about 3/8's inch thick and the flare itr self is about 1/4.
Let me do some more research on it and I will find out what I can about where it comes from, and how to get more.

Hey sport,
Glad to hear your still kick'n around up there. Hadn't heard from you for a while. Those flares look great! I might be needing some new "low pro" fender flares up front when I move up to 35s and this sounds like a good alternative. Though, I still don't know what I'm going to do about those damn holes in the side of my truck from the stupid limited flares. Either way... good find and glad to hear from you!

I bought these for my 98, they are 1.5" they also make them in 3". I got mine from http://www.tirewarehouse.net/ Sorry I don't have the orig box they came in so I don't know who makes them. They do have a metal rod that goes through the outside so you can form it...

Ran across this today, not sure if its the same stuff but looks like it may be and it also comes on a roll of 25' and different width
If anyone gets them let us know how they look and work out....
