I noticed this too, so I did something about it. I assure you that my mods will take care of this "problem" quite nicely. By all means, pursue the cam idea. If it weren't for pioneers we wouldn't have any options.

However, there is an alternative. Just keep that in mind.

I can't wait to see the HP gain that this could give us. Dyno numbers will be a huge factor for alot of us.

Unfortuanately my dyno numbers wont be very helpfull. Since I have all that other stuff on there. The most a plot would do is show where the power curve is improved before and after but I think the turbos are going to screw with the graphs enough that they wont be of any use to you guys for comparisons. I suppose I could unhook the actuators to the wastegates so you could get an NA comparison.

As for your alternative 96runner yea, I thought about that but I figured turbo had more power potential. The cams would mainly help those who have power adders like the SC or a turbo who wouldent mind a slight loss of low end torque for the big boost in upper RPM horsepower. We should see a good deal of impovement, trust me

Oh, I know what your intention is, and I think it is a good one. I was mainly replying to those folks who noticed the flat spot in the powerband on a N/A engine between 4800 and 5600. The SC'r, along with proper tuning devices, really crams air and fuel in there and eliminates that problem quite nicely. I am sure turbocharging does the same. The only flat spot I have now is between 2000 and 3000 due to all the timing retard I have dialed in. Right now I have between -4 and -9 degrees in that range via the SMT 6. Sucks, but a necessary evil on this motor to prevent detonation.

Dunno what the exact numbers are now, but they no longer matter since I have a 60 trim T4 waiting to go onto the car with a lot of other goodies. Im shooting for 400+ unopened.

Here is a step by step of my install. I will try to get some better pics of the new T4 manifolds as I put them togeather. http://www.mr2board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1467

For more info on the new manifold and second V6 turbo project, check here http://www.mr2board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2500

I have a set of 92 camery cams laying in my garage. I bought a 3vzfe engine from a local mechanics shop for $50, he though that I may be able to use the block sence my 3vze engine has a whole in it the size of a grapefruit. Any way I took the bait and I now know that the block wont work. Now I have purchased a 5vzfe engine and am in the process of doing the swap. Anyway if someone wants me to take a few measurements of the cams that are literally laying on the floor I will be more than happy to.

The 3.4L Turbo V6 TRD2000 MR2 listed in Node's sig is mine. I am working on something for it now. Aside from just swapping in the new(ER) 5vz.

Aside from resurrecting a dead thread for no apparent reason, do you want me to point out what else is stupid about this post?

I'm going assume for a second that you're using "dizzy" in the conventional slang meaning "distributor". Why don't you come on over and point out where my distributor is, exactly, on my 3.4?

Ok, let me hold your hand for a second...

The 5VZ is distributorless... (EDIS)
The 3VZ has a distributor...
We're talking about putting 3VZ cams in a 5VZ motor...the 3VZ cams have a notch for the distributor to be driven by the end of the cam. The 5VZ has the casting in the heads for a distributor to be inserted but instead of having the hole for the distributor it is just solid aluminum. The head would have to be milled where the 'dizzy' would be inserted but then the 5VZ would, subsequently, have a distributor then...

And that is how I win...

Notice my wording in my previous post... "I will TRY to put a dizzy on a 5VZ using 3VZ parts"
AKA, the 5VZ doesn't yet have a distributor. But I will attempt to swap it over from the 3VZ...
