Mine works intermittently. I sometimes rest my foot lightly on the clutch pedal when I drive and now the spring is 'tired' and doesn't always return entirely. A tap on the bottom of the pedal gets it back up, it stays up and cruise works great.

Mine still works great, except when I get on my ham radio. I have a RFI issue that makes the cruise jump to wide open throttle if I transmit on the 15 meter (21mhz) band.
Year - 2001
Model - SR5 4x4, Auto, 3.4L
Cruise Control Use - Daily (50 mile each way to work)
Miles - 230K miles
On a side note. The 2001-2002 with the VSC has a totally different curse control system IIRC. There isn't external servo but instead its part of the electronic throttle/idle air control assembly built into the throttle body.

Model: SR5 4x4 3.4 V6 auto
CC use: Every day!

Works great every time! As a few others have said, sometimes when it downshifts it takes a while to shift back up... but I just hit the control stalk down and it shifts.

Mine sets, cruises, cancels, and decelerates, but it will NOT accelerate by tapping on it, holding it up doesn't work either, been like that for a couple of years.

I have a '98 4Runner and it also is moody and works when it wants to work. I have to drive back and forth from Seattle to Spokane every other week and really need the cruise control, without it I am a bit heavy footed and I have the speeding tickets to prove it. Anyhoo, in a post above, X-AWDRIVER said to check vaccum lines to the cc box. Where does one find the cc box on a '98 4Runner? I know to get a new part installed for the CC will set me back $101 at least (I just had the truck into the shop just for this moody CC - they reconnected a something to the clutch that had fallen off and the CC worked for a bit but then died half way back to Seattle from Spokane) Arrrgh! So, help please, does anyone know where the CC Box is located so I can check the vaccuum hose connections? Thanks!

Light comes on, but no one is home. Guess I'll be checking vacuum lines......
Replaced some vacuum lines and now it works. Hope it stays that way. KNOCKING ON WOOD.
