just got my first run of parts in!!!!!!
My completed thirds came in today from Marlin Crawler. I decided to just have them build them for me, rather than fighting with. And surprising enuff it was only about $100 more than if I did it myself, plus I got a warranty! thats what I call a good deal!! they are built exactly as planned other than I had them put a zip locker in the rear instead of an arb. I also had them build me a v-6 rear housing instead of the 4cyl, Looks like it will be a more solid choice. I also went with the high output compressor. my exhaust should come today too. a little early in my build plan, but i put a hole in the other muffler..... whoops!

Straight from LC Engineering......... I bring to you a complete Stainless Steel, Ceramic coated, mandrel bent, bolt on, thick as sh@t, work of art called, my new exhaust system! It was only a $900 shipped to my door. But should be a bolt on 20HP, and believe me I need that. IM SO EXCITED TO PUT IT ON THE TRUCK!!! Build starts tonight; I’ll try to remember to take pic’s as I go.

Unfortunately no. But I’m doing better with work now so it shouldn’t be another two years before the next batch of parts.

HAHA good catch, with a cold air intake as well a very similar build of header advertises gains of almost 20ftlbs of torque and about 10HP. (Rock Ripper from trailgear.com) http://www.trail-gear.com/images/dyno-testing.jpg That’s where I was getting my guesstamite. Sorry for the confusion.

May i ask: why a 4runner and not the truck? Dont get me wrong, runners are awsome but that truck is in such good shape. Plus, the truck, i think, would be more useful with the bed.

The biggest reason I have been contemplating swapping everything to a runner one day is that (although still many years down the road) eventually my family will outgrow a two seater. But recently I have been having second thoughts about it. It’s still a toss up for me. Cuz let’s be honest who wants more than one scared and crying passenger at a time anyways! I really like both I guess we will just have to see what happens. but then again, by the time im done with this build i'll easily be 20k into it, thats $ i'll never get back out. So I want to have something I can keep till I die. But idk. Maybe for now I should just re-title the build to pickup, cuz a runner swap probably won’t happen for a while, If it ever does.

Well i don't have many pic's from last nights progress, but the rear third is in! Everything seems to be working well. i did have to do a little grinding on the housing to get the v-6 carrier in, but that was expected. other than that it went smoothly. I decided to make the whole axle new so i also replaced the wheel bearings and seals as well. then filled it with lucus synthetic 75-90. Tonight's goal will be to get the front diff in, then Saturday will be mounting, wiring and plumbing the air compressor. That reminds me..... I NEED SOME HELP! Where am i going to mount this compressor? Where have you seen them mounted or mounted your self. some advice would be great. maybe some pics?

rear diff
got the rear diff out and it was leaking around the seal housing. I took it off and the seals looked good and covered in oil. not sure why it wouldn’t seal. My only thought is that the lucus oil synthetic 75-90 wasn’t thick enough, so I wiped some bearing grease on the seals and put it back together. Did a bench test and it sealed right up, and engaged. So I put the third back in, and so far so good. Went wheeling this weekend with it and its still working great.
