Now its time for a bit of differential homework..................

I have ZERO "wheeling" experience
So sorting the proper pick for me is not easy

MOSTLY on road
Half of that is WINTER road conditions (anywhere from dry to 18" of heavy wet snow)

The other half of its duties will include moving the ATV around... 3 hr highway trips
Along with some camping expeditions in canada (10 hr highway drive)
then 300 miles of 2track... ranging from flat dirt road to large rock creek crossings!!!...

ALL in all > Id like something controllable
I NEED the winter time GOES NO MATTER WHAT IN THE SNOW
And a bit of "dont fail me now" switching (front + rear)
while maintaining the highway driving

Full Open OR Full Locked
Sounds like the best option at this point

Cool on the vw - audi, my has a few miles, no muffler, no cat, bigger injectors, EGR bypass. it run great and alot of smoke.........lol

Pictures on your build, truck does looks good. For snow you want to get it up in the air and may want locker at least in the rear. With deep snow, you should go with wide tires to get on top.

How far from Dayton?

I understand it's a 1990 I saw the tag on the first pic and I was wondering since you got a SR-5 full gauge cluster but didn't show a pic of the back of it, so I was wondering if the cluster you got to put in yours is a cable speedo? Or do you have a electronic speedo? Have you installed it yet? Did you get the larger gauge sender unit to put on engine?

Your one of the lucky ones, you got a toy built in Japan...

I too installed a SR-5 cluster in my 93 and I love it, it's a cheap upgrade, but does cost more really because you have to buy the gauge sender unit around 50 bucks new...

I like your truck, very nice :}

Yes it has the direct plug and play speedo > cable driven
The sr5 donor was an 89 regular cab 5spd

Everything work except the oil temp.......... I know theres a trick.. just need to find it....

It's an oil pressure gauge not a temp gauge and if you hooked up cluster using the idiot gauge sender unit (Smaller one) you fried the gauge and will not work even if you get the (larger) old pressure gauge sender unit from dealer, You'll have to get a new pressure gauge, read my build thread, I did a write up on installing SR-5 cluster.

Plug and play cluster just has the electrical connectors, Electrical speedo, No cable speedo :}

Good luck and have fun :}

Ps. I've always loved the look of VW rabbits, I think the Convertibles look great also. And the Cabriolets too :}
