Wider tires on 2010 Limited?

Replacement Tires for 2010 4Runner Limited
I just put 45K miles on my 2010 4 runner and was mortified to find out that Toyota put tires on this vehicle where the size is only produced by Yokohama ( stock with vehicle and costly ) or Bridgestone Duelers, which do not get good reviews. Obviously, Toyota's their intent is to continue to sell you $300.00+ tires that suck in off road conditions. I was so upset that I swore to never buy another toyota and came very close to buying new wheels altogether so I could get tires that would work in the snow. Additionally, I never really liked the look of the skinny tires and was looking for wider tires.
My Limited is 4WD and I do go off roading and up to our cabin in the snow.
Boy do I have great news for all of you out there and thanks to an old tire guy of 30+ years and much research here is the solution. No need for spacers, lifters or replacement of wheels. Your new size is P275/55/R20. These tires are the same heighth, wider and look AWESOME on my 4 Runner. I purchased the Falken Wildpeak A/T tires and am totally satisfied. They Do NOT produce any road noise and no noticable difference in Gas Mileage. These tires are fantastic in the snow and rain. Additionally, there are several tire manufacturers that have this size so now you will have options.
Happy 4 Wheeling!!! and a great new look for your 4Runner

275/55/R20's work GREAT !!!
I have a 2010 Limited and just put on Falken Wildpeak A/T tires for highway, snow and rain, size P275/55/R20. These tires work perfect with NO Spacers or alterations whatsoever. There is no interference with any of the suspension anywhere. This is a great solution for replacing the skinny's.

You will be gaining more than just width with those tires.
You'll be going from about a 31.5" to a 33" also.
Check this out.

Hi guys
Just joined, I love my 2015 Limited but the skinny tires are just not for me. Could someone confirm this for me...I can actually get this size of tire and everything be ok for my 7" stock wheels? Can someone post a pic of what the end result looks like, please? No fender rubbing or anything occurs? TIA

Hello, I'm in the same boat here, stock 2012 Limited with the peg leg 20 x 7J rims... I'm really eyeballing the Michelin Defender 275/55r20 ........ Have you guys had good results with your switch to the larger tires? Any issues to report over the last years at all? Or is it pretty transparent (other than cooler, better performing tires!).
Thanks
Thanks

Hey, I was just curious if you had any issues with going to the wider tire on you Limited? I just picked one up and would like to go to a wider tire. This post is really old so I don't know if you are still active.
Please let me know if you had ANY issues going to a 275/55-R20.
Thanks.

Thread resurected from the dead
Hey there. Couldn't find anyone that would recommend going with a wider tire that doesn't match the stock 20" rims, ended up going the safe route with stock size Michelin's... Had no issues and never thought about it again until now... I've since replaced those Michelin's with a new set of Michelin Defender tires.... These Defenders are the best tires I've ever owned, would recommend them to anyone with a Limited 4runner: Michelin Defender LTX M/S --- stock size 24560R20 with stock Limited rims.

I would have to agree with you on your choice of Michelin Defener LTX M/S. I use that tire on all my vehicles and have never had any issues. I currently have the stock Bridgestone Dueler and they just seem stiff so I was hoping to go to the 275/55-r20 but I'm hesitant due to the sidewall bulging out. I will probably just stick with the stock size but try the Michelin in hopes for a better ride.
Thanks.
Thanks.
