sidewall crack near bead.
I picked up a used set of Dominator tires for my 4R. I was about to have them mounted when I noticed there's a hairline crack running about 3/4 of an inch above and parallel to the bead. It's about a 1/16" deep. Is this cause for concern?

I could post a pic, but I don't think the crack would show up very well.
The research I did over the last day or so basically says that it's not a good idea to run these tires on the road. Trail use only apparently. The crack is saying the rubber is going bad.

It would probably be fine as long as you are not racing it on a track. Lol
If the crack were to get worse, it would likely develop as a slow leak, and not some sort of high speed catastrophic disaster blow out. I have a set of old tires I use on occasion that are all cracked up and probably ten years old now. I hammer on them on and off road and have not had anything bad happen. The tread is just so good on them, I can't bear to throw them out until they actually pose a problem.

i wouldnt worry about iit unless the same crack goes arounf the whole tire and is big enuf to fit a dime into it. just make sure you are on the low end of the pressure with it (30psi)

I just installed four new General Grabbers on my FJ. Within a hundred miles I had a blowout
at 60 mph on the right front tire. It was an eight inch split along the bead of the tire. NEW TIRES! If you see cracks better get it replaced pronto. Why take a chance.
