i'm looking to see/hear if anyone is running 33x12.50 tires on 15x8 wheels the two main tires i'm looking at are bfg mud or all terrains any brand will help though pics would be great too

I run 31's or 33's on 15 x 8.5 wheels. I have 4:88 gears. I run Dick Cepek Fun Country II tires.

33x12.50R15 Mastercraft Courser M/T on 15x8 steelies w/ 4.75" backspacing. Took some pounding up front with no lift not to rub on the street, have not tested at full flex yet.

thanks for the goo post i'm not worried about htem rubbing just trying to see if a 33x12.50 will fit on a 15x8 wheel because bfg and most othe manufactures recomend a 15x8.5 to 10 inch wheel plus xxxtreme22r can i get a side shot of how far they stick out and what year is the truck

i have 35x12.5's on 15x8 rim. same width just alittle bit taller. work great, good for airing down.



heres a sideshot from when i first got the truck, again theyre 35x12.50's, but they are the same width as the 33's your looking at. they do stick out quite a bit. Youre gonna need fender flares, thats for sure.

lol ocdropzone, I think he was thinking the rating for a 7-9" wheel for a 10.5" tire by the tire manufacture is because the manufacture wants to sell more wheels. But there is only a handful of tire manufactures that make their own wheels. BFG not being one of them. I believe the right thing is liability and "safety" As a tire is more stable (handles corners better) on that size wheel then it would on a narrower wheel. Also a narrower wheel would also change the tread pattern and instead of a "flat" contact patch it has the tendency to round it out and at recommended tire pressure for the vehicle it would cause the centers to wear out a little more. Which is remedied by slightly lowering the tire pressure which also makes cornering feel a little more "squishy".

hmmm with the right backspacing 33 x 12.50 will fit without going too far outside of the fenderwells.

I'm the one on the left. The taco on the right also has 33 x 12.50's. THe one with the cap has original 235's and the other one has 33 x 10.50's.

I was meaning most shops or people will recommend wider wheels than what is necessary. The narrower wheels will work in most conditions.

The ones who recommend wider wheels are the ones who have no clue what airing down means. If you do, and you have to, and if your wheeling you should be and the guy your buying tires from and/or wheels don't, then you need not be going there for advise for tires nor wheels.

i didn;t know he was running 12.50s on an 8 inch rim i have seen he write up before and love how simple yet funtional his setup is
