ok got a little more work done to this thing .still trying to find a donor car .. went to look at one last week but the seller was a huge liar out in oakland .. car was garbage ..

did drive out to grass valley on thursday to pick up the t-100 ,4x4 ,3.4 auto tranny $200, $50 in gas


modified steering dampner and the ebrake mounting at the firewall .

Go look at the e-brake at an 89 4runner. Different setup that works much better

What would the brake interfere with?
How is an 89 different? Runners of that vintage are uncommon around here.

After already doing two of these you think he'd be done already. lol. j/k.

I woulda never thought about relocating the OEM damper. I woulda just ripped the thing off. haha. I guess it still allows for full steering travel mounted like that huh?

It hits the head and cam cover. The 89 and up is on the inside of the firewall.

well this grey 88 the maroon 88 and my black 88 all had the correct ebrake .. the pivot wheel is on the inside not the outside .
You have to at least massage it a bit or like toyminator says parts will rub or hit the bolts and bracket at the ebrake.

so i just drill out the spot welds for the bracket and pound it in a bit .. then just make a new bracket with some counter sunk bolts .

this gives me a little more than 1/2 inch more room .I know it doenst sound like alot but when installing the radiator and puller fans every little bit helps .

not really sure what year they started but all 3 88 runners had the correct ebrake .

HAha still looking for the donor car ....the cats alone are $200 and the pick n pulls wont sell them to you , need to buy new .so buying the whole car just makes it alittle cheaper , if were able to get it for $500 -$700

never tried this on the others but will see how well it holds up .and yes it still cycles fine ..

Are you keeping the 4runner cluster? Are you able to wire it to show any codes like the stock 88 ecu does?

No im not im using the 4runner cluster im using the sc400 cluster like this other one

im pretty sure you could get the 4runner cluster to work , may need to change some senders but again im not really sure . you would also need something like this to run the speedometer

just to expesive for me to use and not sure if they are compatible with the lexus , if you get the whole lexus car its just alot cheaper to use the sc cluster and it looks way better than the 4runner cluster , and not to difficult to modify.

I'm a believer RMA....at that price (for the adapter) the Lexus cluster($25 at my local yard) looks like it will hook up just fine

still trying to get a car for this .. almost scored a 98 gs 400 for $600 but was beat out by a couple hours . so back to searching ..

ok so finally go the car
1992 sc 400 $700
traction control ,hydraulic fan
118,000 miles

the funny thing is we tried to buy this car 2 weeks ago for $1300 , the owner sold it for $1400 . then the guy that bought it took all the interior out for his car and relisted it for $1000 and we ended up getting it for $700 .


got it on friday afternoon , pulled everything we needed on saturday and today called some scrappers, they cut it up and took it .. in a carbed toyota




ready for the scrap yard



and after getting all the parts off this car i will say its way better to get an ls 400 alot easier .
we have to change the throttle body , hydraulic fan set up along with the oil pan ..
i do have those parts its just the extra work to change them out ..

Damn, I want to do this swap so much. I have an Auto 89 and a 4spd 89. They both need v8s lol.
