I had just decided last night that I wanted to go ahead and hook up the A/C in my runner, and today find this thread. This is great. Thank you in advance for taking the time to put it together.

Dude that is awesome.. I will go unhook that ac1 wire and have a good idle again! ugh.. so those two wires must be what the ecu uses to turn the compressor on or off. I remember working with I think ukrunner, and he had said if you hook up act, then the compressor will not engage. Glad that we were just over thinking it! and just had to get power to the clutch lol.

I finally got my a/c hooked up after chasing down a bunch of leaks. Compressor kicks on and off just as it should. However, when I turn my a/c on, my idle drops to about 5-600 rpms, and it turns off the compressor. I have to rev it above 750 for it to come back on, so I have no A/C when sitting still.....

There's a knob on your A/C amplifier behind the glovebox that adjusts the A/C compressor RPM shutoff point. Try turning it one way or another until the compressor kicks on at 5-600 rpm. Mine too idles about 600 when A/C is on, but compressor stays on, go figure...

just charged my ac and had the high idle problem, came back to this thread and found out that it had changed. Disconnected (ie cut) the ACT line and now she idles like a champ. Thanks a lot guys!

Can't get 12v to the A/C magnetic clutch wire? If you put 12v on the wire off the compressor, does the clutch engage on the compressor? Also the clutch will not engage if the system is low or empty. You'll have to manually jump the clutch wire to 12v to pull refrigerant in, until the low pressure sensor will allow compressor to run.

I did jump the clutch wire to the battery pos and the clutch did engage and i was able to give it a charge but still no power to the black-white wire at kick panel when i switch on the ac button (btw the ac has never worked since ive owned the truck) I figure the pressure switch or the ac amp is bad!
