dual friction centerforce clutch for 3.4 and 3.o throwout bearing...

ok, so today i bolted on my brand new centerforce dual friction clutch on my 3.4. i slid my 3.0 transmission into place almost effortlessly. finished bolting up the transmission and all of the rest of crap that i have on this truck. jumped in and noticed that the pedal was almost rock solid. i started the truck and went to press the clutch and the stiffness went away but there was a popping and a huge amount of noise inside the bellhousing. so i pulled the transmission back off and found that my throwout bearing was destroyed. the biggest difference between this clutch is the centrifugal weights built onto the pressure plate that now have markings on them from what seems like the throwout smacking into them.

the question to all of this is that, can i use a 3.4 throwout on the 3.0 transmission? the design of the throwout between the 2 transmissions has to be my issue. i had a centerforce on my 3.0 as well but it did not have the weights.

i searched the two throw outs on oreilly's website. the center bores are the same dimensions but the outer and the width are different.

the 3.4 has a 1mm narrower outside diameter and is 20mm deeper which is probably what centerforce is counting on to clear those weights. i will order both from the parts house across the street from work and see if the 3.4 will work on the 3.0 tranny.

at this point i do not see why it would not but i wont know for sure until i go to step on the clutch pedal and actually be able to drive the dam thing!

Always used a 3.0 throwout bearing on 3.4 swaps but I use Aisin clutches too.

ok so 3.4 throwout cannot be used. the extra depth of the throwout cannot be compensated for anywhere else. so i will be taking the centrifugal weights off the pressure plate and run the 3.0 throwout bearing.
